That was my thought, but they never reviewed it or mentioned it, and by the end of the game...I deleted the whole damn mess from the DVR. No stomach to relive it.

Doesn't seem like it even should be grounding after being handed off twice...

The problem with that reply is, it was against our practice defense.

It was a terrible playcall that wouldn't have worked against ANY defense.

Honestly, I thought Billy's offense was fine over his two years here, for the most part. I have been OK with the scheme, the philosophy, the playcalling. Everyone loves to complain about Billy being the OC, but more often than not, lack of execution was the bigger problem than the playcall decision IMO.

That being said, I think he did an absolutely dreadful job calling the FSU game. The players executed really well on most of Etienne's and Johnson's runs, and Brown hit some bigtime throws in the first half to convert on 3rd and keep drives going. But we were too predictable, too unbalanced, too conservative, and too stupid (like the double reverse call). We didn't put Brown in a position to succeed, especially in the second half. I understand the inexperience and personnel deficiencies (especially at the tackle spots) were a factor, but we weren't making adjustments, we weren't being creative, and we weren't playing to win. That is extremely disappointing and now I can see why some are losing faith in Billy.

And no, the double reverse pass wasn't creative, it was just plain foolish.

If I remember correctly he got hit while he was throwing, so it wasn't going to go anywhere near where he intended.
Officials really need to take that into account.

We Gator fans should know what horrible offense is, we saw it under muschamp and maclwein. Our offenses have not been terrible the last two years they have been sporadic. That's the problem and the debate seems to be whether it's the scheme, the playcalling or both. In my opinion the scheme is fine and it will be even better with a decent line. To this day we have had sketchy at best line play, inconsistent qb play last year along with a dearth of receiver talent at times due to depth and injury.

Qb play and receiver play is trending up. Rb position has been stellar. If the line could ever put it together the offense could be one of the best especially with a recieving threat at tight end.

The problem is play calling and game management both of which could be greatly improved with a dedicated OC who isn't the head coach.

He hasn't figured out that running up the middle every first down hasn't worked and is just a waste of a down, so unlike SOS, he doesn't have the instincts to call plays like reverses at the right moments in a game either.

With our OL, our offense is doomed. The last two games the opposing defense has been jumping our east - west passing game effectively nullifying screens and taking Wilson and running backs out of the game in that dept. You can't jump those routes unless you know the QB won't have time to burn you. Our QB never has that time.

The e/w pass tendencies just allow them to crowd the line in run support, because that is what they are, runs.

    Throw past the line

Creative would have been running a 6 man O-line front... or a 22 personnel formation, not trying a doubledumbazz trick play.

There are posts that are saying he may not get one. And I have plainly said that, besides plenty of other new coaches, if he chooses to "stay the course" then he is basically Dead Man Walking. We may not see it next year, but that does not change the fact that he can not survive in the SEC with the "I have this" mindset. He is behind schedule because his coaching selections and communication is sorely lacking.

I finally saw a replay. He was inside the tackle box. He also was hit as he let it go. The problem is, it looked like he was trying to throw to the sideline with no receiver in the area. Almost like he thought he was outside the box. All in all the call was legit.

Has anyone noticed how much better our play calling is when we are behind as compared to when we are leading
