    Gators taking run at him.

Florida football recruiting: Gators making moves on Texas A&M commit Dealyn Evans

Dealyn Evans, out of Longview, Texas, has been committed to the Aggies since July of last year, but the Gators have always been a player in his recruitment.

Dealyn may be one of those guys thinking about changing his commitment. It came out earlier today that Evans will be making a trip to The Swamp this weekend for their matchup with Florida State, which will mark his third trip to Gainesville.

Evans is ranked as the 67th-best player in the country, the ninth-best DL in the class, and the 11th-best player coming out of Texas per On3’s Industry Ranking. He would be a high-level guy to add to a DL class of LJ McCray, Amaris Williams, and Kendall Jackson, as well as do a solid job of replacing Nasir Johnson.

That would be amazing, but pulling a Texas kid away from his commitment to Texas Tech? I figured it was over after that in-state commitment. If the Gators pull off the flip, well then... they should get major kudos.

Tamu, not Texas. They don’t have a head coach.

Oh true! Forgot it was TAMU and not Texas! Maybe we do have a bit of a shot at this one. I know he seemed legit interested in us before his TAMU commitment.

I could be wrong, but I believe Lagway and Filsaime are from, wait for it, Texas. Still a difficult pull though.

Some are purely bought and others want to win as their most important factor. Some want to create their own path to winning instead of just joining a super team and being handed a trophy.

Hopefully they want to forge their own path. Lagway for example would get a statue if he brought us a title more than likely. At bamer, just another Mac Jones. No negativity toward Jones but leading is way different than joining

Yeah, but neither was committed to another school let alone an in-state school, then flipping to us (an out-of-state school). Might help having those two committed to us with Evans decision though. I'm sure they've been recruiting him big time.

aTm is far from a super team. They have actually been similar to UF for some time now, some bright spots and a good chunk of mediocre.

Think this one falls into the “Some are purely bought” category.

A kid from Texas, is going to a Texas school, so he is purely bought? Would we ever say the same about a Florida kid going to UF? Even if he is, why is that a negative? If he has no overriding interest pulling him to one school over another, why not take the max payout?

Aggies, with their fired coach and disappointing season, have 2 more wins than we do. Even with the LSU loss today.

    And Auburn is bowl eligible.

I know we play an OOC schedule that is harder than most (all?) SEC teams, but sucks that were looking UP at those two schools.

What sucks most of all is that 2 field goals are the difference

I don’t really give a shit what he does. I was just explaining the post you quoted to you. I don’t think wanne was implying evans went to tamu because they were a super team.

True but at least we didn't lose to new Mexico state. We beat the little schools on our schedule this year and didn't have us a Georgia southern moment
