I felt really confident he would get his 1,000 yards tonight, but he fell short. It was so frustrating to watch the offense this game.

A logical person would think he’d get a couple more targets today. This staff defies all logic

The whole game started out well until we got stupid and forgot how to be less predictable in play-calling.

His 1,000 yards season went away when we stopped passing the ball.

I said in the pregame post that if he did not break the record, we would not win this game. No way our best WR shouldn't be part of the offensive game plan.

Try to get the ball to your playmakers? What kind of voodoo witch craft you pushing here?

I feel really bad for Ricky, perhaps one more catch would have put him over the mark. The kid is such a baller and a great Gator it hurts to see him come up short through no fault of his own.

The fact that he caught 1 pass tonight is an absolute joke

does anybody think that napier did not have confidence in Brown to throw to Pearsall (or anybody else at all for that matter)? or was it that Napier just was ok with being conservative?

what?? I'm talking about the second half of the FSU game, where his play calling was conservative (in this case it means playing not aggressively on offense) with a terrible outcome...

I did. I just cannot understand why Napier would do it.

Lose and the season is over. Why not ball out?

Everyone screaming to throw the ball more, meanwhile 90% of the time we dropped back to pass the OL just let FSU run right past them.

We had zero time to throw tonight. It was down, set, hike....TOAST.

FSU had 11 tackles for loss and 6 sacks....and many more QB hurries.

We had 16 pass attempts, plus a few designed throws that ended up runs, so let's say we dropped back 20 times.

    In 20 attempts:

    - 9 completions
    - 1 INT
    - 6 sacks
    - many QB hurries

The fact we put up 15 points is a minor miracle.

so your plan would be just to run straight into their d line all second half?
Hell, since that wasn’t working do you suggest we just take a knee every snap?

what would you suggest given the struggles of the offensive line and a relatively inexperienced QB?

He would have had it if Mertz played. Expecting Max to jack into the Matrix and in 10 seconds come out and be Tom Brady is asking too much especially with as talented of a defense FSU has. They did seal the deal when we forced Max to throw in the end and they ate him up. True defense there. Ours, not so much. We tied the FBS record with fewest defensive turnovers in a season at 7. FSU wasn't stupid either - they made sure to put their best on Ricky and took him out of the picture. Sure maybe if we dinked and dunked, he might have eventually gotten 1,000 but the dinking earlier in the game was showing Billy that the Sun Belt offense was never going to work. Negative yards on every behind-the-line pass.

Brown had no pocket presence to know when to throw the ball. The oline being a sieve didn’t help. That goes back to poor practice habits where the QB hasn’t been exposed to pocket pressure.
Napier should have seen that during the course of the game and had Brown roll out more where he could see better and then run if no one was open. Play to the strengths of your players.
