Baylor is really good. Look for a deep run by them in March.
    We're close.
Micah is not only good for extra points and rebounds each game, he's also good for a couple of shot blocks and at least 4 or 5 shot alterations. That would have made a difference against Baylor.

By the way, Pitt beat Oregon State by 25. That's a tourney team and a good win for us.

Could it be that #10 was having one of those nights late in the game and a lot of scheming isn't going to help much. There were some great floaters that seemed to find the bottom of the net. Not sure who shot them.

He got up, looked at the ref, and raised his hands as if to say, "Are you effing kidding me?"

Aberdeen made some glaring mistakes early but got better as the game progressed. So it was a good thing for him and the team, because we'll need him in lots of games.

. . . and one of them was a bad alley-oop pass and one was a desperation throw to see if anyone could help as the shot clock expired . . . both went "swish!" LOL! :)

I will say Baylor three point shooting percentage was in line of what they have done all year. With Walter sick, he wasn’t able to have the night he had Wednesday. Will had to go against a great team with a very good power forward. His output on offense was due to his defense on him and help defense inside. This was a hard game for him from before we even hit the floor. Riley looked better tonight but he needed to hit a better percentage to help our Gators tonight. They’re picks for their guards, it seemed we were always a step or two slow to defend. Our freshmen played tough but they are going to get better playing teams like this. We need another big to rotate in, two would be better. I just hope we aren’t going to play small ball as much as we did tonight. Play our bigs we have at the four so they can get better and be better for our kids teammates, in our schemes.
I felt with two bigs out we would lose a close one if we competed hard and we did. Hats off to Gators, learn from this and grow, I and all the Gators on here are with ya’ll. Beat the Deacs, they will play hard for their fans in Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. I lived in Winston Salem, NC twenty years. They support their team,
And we are going to have the same energy expended.

At 7:46 pm, I posted guard the damn 3. Our defense sucked the entire game. Otherwise, we were pretty solid.

They reminded me of us at tournament PK80 when it felt like we couldn’t miss a shot. I think we played decent defense. We got called for a few fouls on three point shooters and that does affect how you guard them. Bad defense would be giving up uncontested layups or being overly dominated on the boards. I didn’t see anything like that.

We gave Baylor open 3-point shots the entire game. I don’t recall Baylor taking any 3-point shots off the dribble. I thought that our defense was terrible.

We also did nothing to stop Dennis after he got it going, and he scored over 20 points in the second half.

I recall seeing good defense better offense. I’ve seen much worse defensive performances. Much, much worse.

What the stat don't show is Condon's efforts on defense around the rim. I think the defense at the perimeter will improve as the season progress.

A lot of complaining going on, sheesh lol. Did you guys get dry turkeys this year or something? We almost beat the #13 team in the country (probably a top 5 team) without our starting center and a sick starting guard. Teams aren’t going to shoot over 50% from 3 many times. We don’t have stellar length, what do you guys expect is going to happen lol. Our guards are all under 6’3. We don’t have a Corey Brewer or Leon/Robinson at the 3. Let’s cut the players a little slack here.

Baylor is currently ranked #12 in 3pt shooting, but prior to the UF game were around #75. They look a little streaky. Do you play the odds & reversion to the mean or think they'll continue with a hot hand? Prior to UF, given their average/std dev, they would've been expected to make between (2.0 - 11.6) 3pt FG & take (12.7 - 24.1). They exceeded the upper limit of both of those ranges.

I am sorry that Micah is hurt, hate that we lost, but am overjoyed to see us playing the kind of game I saw against Baylor!
Really good basketball is a pleasure.

Double him if you have to. Have kugel guard him instead of a smaller guard. There’s plenty of ways to deal with a little guy scoring 20+ points in one half. The guy was averaging less than 12 ppg going into last night and that included games against John Brown, Kansas City and Gardner Webb.

You make my point. There’s no way we could’ve anticipated that a guy averaging would be the one going off. We held their most gifted athlete to 11 points. They were running an offense that makes it nearly impossible to double team anyone. Baylor was just plain better. There’s nothing we could’ve done that would’ve yielded more positive results. I’m a firm believer in Golden and his staff.
