Congrats to all 18 on this list - it's a fun occasion for the players and family members. As far as football, now we have a glimpse at the non-seniors not coming back next season. I know they can choose to come back, but walking on senior day tends to mean they'll be gone. Unfortunately, two non-seniors OL and CB starters are on that list....so we know we'll have to hit the portal hard for OL and CB's. https://www.si.com/college/florida/...senior-day-class-2023-florida-state-seminoles
6 of those are walk on players and only about 5-7 of them were on the 2 deep roster. We got some youth on our team.
and we’re losing Kimber and Hill, and likely Marshall to the NFL. That’s our top 3 CB’s…so we must go portal shopping there too.
Half of the guys on this list are not seniors, and, most of those have no business leaving early. Shouldn't senior day be reserved for actual seniors?
Some are going though senior day but will rely on their draft grade they get back before actually deciding to forego their last year.
UF specifically stated in their release that the players being honored were guys gaining their degree. There will be guys leaving that are not recognized at senior day, and we might see a small number of that 18 back next year.
Well, I feel much better about that then. If they are being recognized as actual academic seniors that are graduating, that is significant.
There’s one that a fan said his parents sat in front of them at a game and overheard him say the son wouldn’t be back at Florida next year.
Hopefully Hill returns, need some experience in the secondary. Don't know if Zip has any eligibility left but seems like he has barely played in his time at UF.
They got their degrees, so officially they are seniors. I see several on that list coming back, since they have eligibility left.
COVID caused issues with classification. There are also redshirt sophomores on the team getting degrees next month but they are not eligible for senior day even if they do not intend to return next year. Normally I would agree that senior day should be reserved for seniors, but the NCAA has to work through this batch of players affected by the pandemic for a couple more years.
