Personally, I'd rather fix the clowns up with a nightmare on Swamp Street. But then I'm old and mean and no one listens to me anymore.

 

That's how he shows up to every game, tie jacket and all, he then changes into his "game attire" for game time on the sidelines.

 

Everything considered, this would be one of the most important wins in series history.

Much rides on this game. Without a win here, CBN is facing the loss of this class, the loss of goodwill among his remaining support, and two consecutive losing seasons with high prospects for a third (and, yes, final). That might seem unfair, given that SWAC is undefeated, but in the event of a loss tomorrow, the season was not lost here. It was lost with that inexcusable showing against Arkansas. Very important no one forgets that.

 

I agree with the OP that this is a big game, but didn't Norvelle go 5-7 and lose to us to end the season in his second year? They managed to survive. I know, our schedule will be tougher in year 3 than theirs was. I'm willing to give him 4 years to build a solid, sustainable program, but he better log a few big wins next year.

After watching the Mizzou-Arky game, the Arky loss was a bad, bad loss. We need this win to balance that out

 

I think we all agree on the importance of following process … so long as it’s a sound process. If it’s a process that understands the value of special teams, of having a playcaller you trust up in the booth, of not going for it on 4th down in dumb situations, and so on, then I’m all for staying process-oriented.

 

Yes, he (Norvell) did. And he was probably on his way to being canned if he had had a third consecutive losing season.

I don’t like the cycle of hiring a new coach every couple of years anymore than any other Gator, but the truth is that three seasons is enough to see if someone’s got what it takes or not. And I don’t want to right back here next November, facing another losing season with losses to middling teams like Kentucky (never mind our rivals), and having the same people say “We just need to be patient.” Three seasons is patience.

But, hopefully, we pull off a miracle tonight and this subject becomes moot for a while. Go Gators!

“Terror” is not the word. “Dread” is the word. And, yes, I would love a night free of it if you could arrange such a thing.

 

I 100% agree. I am willing to give him 4 years, but there better be real progress in Year 3, not just a bunch more close losses. A winning record, beating teams we are supposed to beat (like Kentucky, Arky) and at least two of the big three rivals of UT, UGA and FSU in Year 3 is a must. If we have a losing record and miss a bowl game next year, then I don't think Billy is the guy for the job.
