Very entertaining match and a view of UF at close to its best under the injury circumstances. I couldn't believe the announcers were talking about UF winning out and hosting. It wasn't going to happen starting with the latest loss. Beating LSU, Alabama, and Missouri is a whole lot different than winning at Arkansas and at Kentucky. Whatever UF is going to do in the tournament will be done on the road. UF has some great early season wins so I think they will be including the Gators, but not as a host.
What a great article and video. Digging Deeper: The Journey of Kennedy Muff - ESPN 98.1 FM - 850 AM WRUF
I see Elli is participating in senior day. Does that mean she definitely will not return for another year?
Selections | 6 p.m. ET Sunday, Nov. 26 on ESPN First and second rounds | Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 Regionals (Rounds of 16 and eight) | Dec. 7 to Dec. 9 Semifinals | Dec. 14 National championship: Dec. 17 What do think our chances of are of hosting? I gotta decide now whether to put in for leave and make travel plans. Don't want to burn leave if we're not gonna host. I don't know enough about the tournament and rankings to have an intelligent opinion.
Gators are currently beating South Carolina. Up 2 sets to 1 and 16-11 in 4th set. Kennedy Martin going off today with 24 kills so far at a .525 clip.
64 teams in the first round -- 32 automatic qualifiers and 32 selections. First/Second rounds played at 16 sites, in four team clusters. Top 16 should host UF AVCA Ranking = 20 RPI Ranking = 17 It shouldn't count but realistically there's the "Mary Wise" factor, the "nice arena" factor, the "fans will show up" factor, the "long history of excellence" factor and the "good infrastructure" factor (hotels, etc.) and maybe even the "got screwed by injuries" sympathy factor. Those might move us up. I think we host first/second rounds. No chance for hosting regionals or semis. But we still win the Natty on Dec 17th.
The art of (and really the simplicity of) the off speed shot for a point is lost on these girls. I have no clue why this is. It shouldn’t be. This skill is not a skill introduced at the collegiate level. I know several drills for this use in a bad ball (OOS) offense, or simple OH v OH, OPP v OPP ten ft line pepper drills. I’m disappointed. The goal for an offense is to get the ball to the floor each possession. Score the point as simply as possible. Use off speed judicially but when employed, least amount of air under the ball as possible and to the floor-the topspin roll. Smh
I guess we'll know tomorrow, but during the broadcast today it indicated that our RPI was 16, so that lends hope.
The basics of blocking ( net penetration not reaching), strong service game(location and spins/floats), scoring points(as I mentioned earlier), covering shots w/o leaving the back half of the court exposed….all things that a college team of any caliber should know, much less a top 20 team. Mary has how many assistants? What do they do? It’s almost like dissecting our football woes. I need to give myself a break
