Supreme Court says Florida can’t enforce anti-drag law | CNN Politics

The Florida law that limits drag shows in the state will remain blocked, the Supreme Court said Thursday, dealing a blow to a key initiative championed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Conservative Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch said they would have allowed the law to take effect.

In a brief statement agreeing with the court’s decision, Justices Brett Kavanaugh, joined in part by Justice Amy Coney Barrett, addressed the First Amendment complexities of the case and said the case was an “imperfect vehicle” for deciding some of the questions at the center of the dispute.

DeSantis State Guard contracts with combat training company

"To recruit and train members of a civilian military force under his control, Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration has hired a company that specializes in combat training and lists as one of its instructors Eddie Gallagher, a former U.S. Navy SEAL accused of war crimes.

Previously unreported records reviewed by the Times/Herald show the state has agreed to pay Stronghold SOF Solutions up to $1.2 million to recruit, vet and train volunteer members of the Florida State Guard, the World War II-era force that DeSantis revived last year to respond to emergencies.

The Florida company trains police and military members on tactical shooting, explosives and urban combat and is owned by a former Army green beret who supports the Republican governor’s presidential campaign."

Don’t like that EG is involved in that.

Great, another unconstitutional bill, that if passed, the taxpayers will have to pay millions of dollars to outside law firms to litigate.

At this rate of expanding freedoms in the free state of FL (lol), we can expect a house bill 6xx to be “prohibitions on citizens disagreeing with or suing the government*”

*only applicable where a Republican is the defendant.

At first I was going to rate your post "funny" due to it's absurdity. Then I realized it wasn't.

This seems to apply only to organizations that receive state funding. Regardless, the law is despicable.

A headline and sub headline in today’s paper

Pasco school board is urged to drop library group
American Library Association opposes Christian beliefs, backs socialism, parents and religious leaders say.

From The Book of Acts, Chapter 4

Life in the Christian Community.*j There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale,k Thus Joseph, also named by the apostles Barnabas (which is translated “son of encouragement”), a Levite, a Cypriot by birth,
37sold a piece of property that he owned, then brought the money and put it at the feet of the apostles.

So a protected class under the US Constitution is banned from discussing the underlying set of facts that make it a protected class in the first place?
