You so desperately want to believe that these aren’t innocent people dying by the thousands in Gaza. Half of them children. Pretty pathetic.

Never said that… but their answers do give insight into how they feel and what they support. It’s not new. Don’t act like this is a new thing in NLT since this war. Videos of what they teach kids in their schools have surfaced. We have seen the propaganda they pass out to their children. Here is an actual survey/ poll taken by Palestinians and you refuse to condemn the stances they took.

I condemn Hamas. That’s good enough for me. I don’t need to paint a 2.3 million person population that’s half children as somehow deserving what’s happening to them. Which is the reason y'all keep trotting this kinda shit out. You want to believe they have it coming to them. That Israel has no blame in what is happening. Again, pretty pathetic.

That’s not the way I look at it, and I haven’t been an Israel apologist in all instances nor am I a fan of Netanyahu.

You can certainly criticize Israel but I look at Gaza/Hamas as somewhat of a stand-alone issue. Gazans elected Hamas after Israelis left 15 years ago. Hamas has always been for the destruction of Israel. At that point Israel had little choice to barricade itself from Hamas In Gaza. Over the years Hamas has repeatedly sent rockets into Israel. By all account there is varying degrees of support for Hamas in Gaza.

At this point Israel has every right to defend itself. There is at least some level of complicity among the adult Gaza population.

Could Israel accomplish this with less casualties? Perhaps. I don’t know. This approach may not be the best approach in terms of long term world opinion.

However what Israel is doing is not inconsistent with what we have done countless times when defending ourselves. We have probably killed perhaps millions of civilians in various wars and military actions. I am sure that included plenty of kids.

I don’t disagree with any of that. You seem to have no issue acknowledging the US government has killed millions of civilians, many of whom were innocent children. What you’re not doing is suggesting they deserved it. That’s all I’m taking issue with here.

If someone says they deserve it, they have little sense of humanity. However you can say that a population may be complicit, and as such it makes it more difficult for outside parties to minimize casualties.

Israel is doing a wonderful job of grooming the next generation of extremist terrorists. By killing every Palestinian in sight, they have guaranteed another generation of Palestinians who loathe Israel, even more so than previous generations.

Make of this what you will. One thing that is odd is that I have seen no one describe the basements as hardened like bunkers

I respect Yair but this drives me crazy. First, we have moved from "command center" to "operated out of" in some form, an amorphous phrase. No mention of transition.

Second, I'm sure medical professionals fear Hamas, but does it at all occur that they may just want to take care of their patients first and foremost? The linked MSF press release says NOTHING about Hamas and whether any part of the hospital was used for any other purpose. This is part of the statement:

“The situation in Al-Shifa is truly catastrophic,” says Ann Taylor, MSF's Head of Mission in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. “We call on the Israeli government to cease this unrelenting assault on Gaza’s health system. Our staff and patients are inside Al-Shifa hospital where the heavy bombing has not stopped since yesterday.”

Al-Shifa hospital is the principal hospital complex in the Gaza Strip, with 700 beds, providing emergency and surgical care. There are currently no other facilities in the Strip able to admit and treat as many patients with complex, sometimes life-threatening, injuries. Despite regular attacks and supply shortages, the staff has managed to keep the hospital operational.

Yesterday, Al-Shifa hospital lost electrical power. The ambulances can no longer move to collect the injured, and non-stop bombardment prevents patients and staff from evacuating. At the time of writing, our staff are witnessing people being shot at as they attempt to flee the hospital.

“There are a lot of patients already operated on and they cannot walk. They cannot evacuate,” said Dr Mohammed Obeid, MSF surgeon at Al-Shifa hospital. “We need an ambulance to move them, we don't have ambulances to evacuate all of these patients.”

Does anyone really expect medical professionals in the midst of caring for wounded to state words to the effect of "we accept the legitimacy of the hospital as a target while caring for patients" Be real.

I know Yair thinks he is saying something helpful, and he is amongst the current atmosphere where everyone is a terrorist and legit target, be they doctors, nurses, journalists, etc., unless they leave. But that's not remotely fair

This has gone from the outrage of attacking the hospital to tie documentation of the hospital as a base where terror operators were carried out. Hostages held. Israel has arrested terrorists sneaking out masquerading as staff. Nobody who supports Hamas— the vast majority of the protestors around the US and world— will bother acknowledging this. They will host move on to the next strike or next civilian area Hamas uses and accuse Israel of genocide. Just like in the parade today. And they won’t blame Hamas. Just Israel. I am really not interested I’m the debate anymore. Everyone who attacked Israel for its actions on relation to this hospital needs to come to terms with their views. The Jew haters won’t and will just move on. Just like the UN, Gaza Health Ministry and everyone else have continued to assail Israel. And this director deserves be arrested. He is Hamas. That’s how he became director. I don’t think I will be here much anymore. It’s a waste of time.

There will never be a shortage of extremists on the left or right who are willing to kill Jews. That is the course of Jewish history. 6 million dead in Europe last century when we didn’t have a country and couldn’t fight back. The next extremists will think twice now since we are not marching to the gas chambers without a fight anymore.

My wife just got off the phone with her best friend who is German/Israeli. She grew up in Tel-Aviv and actually lived and worked in Nir-oz Kibbutz for a while. She knew so many that were killed and taken hostage. One of her former colleagues was decapitated and she saw the footage. My wife was in tears after the conversation.

Awful. I’m so sorry to hear that. Really hoping these hostage negotiations work out. Seems like progress is being made which is good. 13 tomorrow would be a great first step.

Extremist Islamic terrorists don’t care about your army. If they did, they never would have carried out the 10/7 attack in the first place. You can try to gloss over the atrocities in Gaza by evoking the Holocaust, but the truth is the Holocaust was 75 years ago and has absolutely nothing to do with events today in Gaza and Israel. I know you’re trying really hard to justify all the killing. I’m sorry, but the Holocaust doesn’t give you carte blanche to commit genocide in Gaza. Nor will the Holocaust stop Palestinians from hating you for the brutality you have brought on them. What Israel is doing now is making their own future less safe.
