At The Swamp, November 29, 2003. “ The Swindle in the “Swamp!” I’m sure there are other Florida Gators who were at the game and will never forget that game that as it had the worst officiating ever of any game! Remember the TV coverage showing so many calling errors that screwed the Gators from getting the victory. Since FSU was the Visiting Team they could bring their ACC Officials with them. Those ACC Officials became known as “The Swindle in the Swamp” ACC Crew. They were so bad that the UF Administration said that ACC Officials would never come to the Swamp again. Have never heard otherwise so I assume that is still the case. No doubt we’ll know very soon whom the conference Officials are for the Gators vs FSU game next Saturday.

That response was typical Foley. Be the pu$$ that he was/is/ but act like you’re handing the issue. He didn’t do anything when the Holes hit Danny late repeatedly in 96. Wouldn’t even back up his head coach. Same thing in 01 when Dickett tried to stomp on Grossman’s hand and twisted Graham’s knee. Not a peep out of his trap. So by 03 the Noles figured they could steal an entire game, so they did.
I know this is something our administration may not have thought about, but why not use a crew from a neutral conference when playing FSU?
I look at it this way: The SEC refs are inept and incompetent, so having them on the field at either place probably is just a crapshoot if your team the one getting screwed. ACC refs are corrupt to the bone, and letting them on Florida Field is just asking to get hosed.
Can’t disagree here — but the SEC refs are corrupt too. Those assholes missed 2 replays in back to back games, both incorrectly overturning the call on the field, both screwing us, followed by erroneous spots, screwing us further. This isn’t incompetence - it’s intentional. It should be damn near impossible to make the incorrect call after 5 minutes of replay.
The reason they always give is that the non-conference refs are always busy with their own conference games...but here's a novel idea: Trade with them. There are enough referee crews to go around.
For some reason our admin thinks we need to play nice with them. Stricklin for some unexplainable reason (probably having no concept of UF football history) allowed ACC refs back on our field. I don't know if this was during a contract update or not, but it would have been simple enough to tell them no, and if you don't like that one term, then I'll have another team lined up as a home and home to take your place in about a millisecond.
My thought too Crusher. A lot of OOC rival games are played week 13. It should be a simple matter to interchange officiating crews between conferences that week.
