He thinks it's all about the locker room. Bro, you are there to win games, not moral victories. You aren't winning.
We just about beat the #9 team in the country in their house with a team full of freshman and you're complaining about Napier being a camp counselor in the post game? I'm proud of how we played tonight against a highly ranked team, showing we have seriously improved our away game performance. Sure, the end of the game nearly made me sick because I thought we had this one, but Napier isn't making excuses. He just talks up his current team. He could easily go into "wait until next year" and we should all know without him even saying that that things will improve with experience, another year in system (look at FSU and Missouri), and highly ranked incoming class. However, saying those things might make him look like he's giving excuses and doesn't think this CURRENT team can put it together and win and that's not good coaching. I'm sure his tone will change somewhat and be more future forward after our last game.
I don't watch these. That's not a dig at Napier. I just know there's nothing that a coach is going to be able to say after a loss like last night that's going to make me feel better.
I can't wait until we just about win championships again......come to think of it though id actually prefer it if other teams fans were hanging on to the almost wins, the next years recruiting class, and the possibility of older players all of the sudden being better coached......next year......or possibly the year after that........or maybe the year after that.
I’m not on the “fire Billy” train, but his game management and situational awareness has got to improve. For example, on that last drive. Once we break mid-field, someone has got to (repeatedly) be telling Brown, and he has to be telling everyone in the huddle “stay in bounds”. There was a failure with that simple thing. In each huddle, it’s “call the play”, “stay in bounds”, then the snap count. Etienne is young, but he’s not stupid. You say that in every huddle, and he gets the message.
Oddly the loss last night did make me feel better. Mizzou was a top 10# team, who had arguably the best trio in the country on offense, Brady cook has been one of the best in the SEC. They have the leading Rusher in the SEC is Schraeder, the best WR in the SEC in Luther Burden III. I completely thought with their strengths at those positions, which have torched us all season that coupled with being a cold night game at the end of November In the most northern conference away game we play, that we were gonna be run out the stadium but instead we played very well in all 3 phases of the game tonight. Had Mertz not got hurt maybe we never fumble that hand off that brown did before he got warmed up. Still even took the lead on the #9 team behind the playoffs our back up QB. Hated to lose but we showed that we are improving. Are we perfect? No but we lost to a top team in a last second field goal. We didn't get blown out at home by New Mexico state. ( looking at you freeze). we Hung strong even though we were missing all.our starting LB's. S. James was out, Scooby Williams Was out , pyburn was out, and don't let me forget we also were missing both of our starting offensive tackles who were injured. I was excited watching the game last night, a strong performance on the road is what I've been hoping to see. Just as Mizzou lost 4 one score games last year this year they turned a corner, I feel we'll turn that corner next year as well
How can you trust a guy with such a great hairline but voluntarily keeps it cut tight? I dream of the days my hairline was that close to my eyebrows......
I’d ask why do we seem to always have a great first drive and then we struggle for the remainder of the first half. Our last possession you have to be playing for a touchdown knowing that you can’t leave any time in the clock.
Like Steve Jobs wearing the same long sleeve turtleneck. It’s about efficiency and one less thing to worry about.
Did you notice how hard out GATORS played last night? That did not happen by accident. Billy inherited a locker room that was not focused on being a team. His first day at UF was to get a 100 plus young men to bond as a team. That was not an easy chore almost two years ago and nor is now. Last week the Gators played LSU very hard Yes, Billy had a lot of things to addressed. However, he had to make sure his team was going to show up and play Missouri hard. Play hard they did! Now Billy has to do the same thing to prep the team for F$U. It will be harder this week. For one thing Mertz is out of action. Another thing is that this is the last game of the season (no post season too). For some players, it is the last game of their college careers. It is very easy for any team to be going through the motions in the last game. Billy and his staff will coach up the team. But they will also need to do a lot of work to have this team show up next Saturday.
They have played together and played hard. Our backs are against the wall and we won't back down. Senior day. Night game against hated rival. Bowl elegibilty. Defend the Swamp! Win one for the Mertzer!
Except its not guaranteed to be the last game of for 2023 gators. The team will determine if they get an extra game, hopefully the leadership core of the team demonstrates the importance of winning and playing in the post season. Based on the last two weeks the fire will be there will the talent be enough to compete and carry the day? With GM i would have bet yes, lets see how MB handles the prep and pressure of starting
If anything we may get a glimpse of how CBN will want to use Lagway and his legs. Since Max's play is closer to lagway than mertz
Post of the day. That should have been obvious to anyone. You have a team with a defense that stinks on ice and the other teams FG kicker is the best in the country, and you play for a FG when a FG by the other team will beat you!! It was a serious wtf moment.
Agree. Didnt like the end result but it was fun to watch and dare I say hopeful... 1st half against UT is the last time I felt that way with this team...we shall see..
