A very smart play. It just did not work.

As my Dad used to say, "You pay your money. You take your chances. "

The strange thing is we made it look so easy for them to convert this play.

I'm sure he's not perfect. I wish he'd leave 1 with his hand in the dirt. But at the end of the day we're very often in the right position and just don't make the tackle/PBU/pick/whatever so I think we just need talent and experience.

OL showed some promise tonight. Took awhile but glad to see it. Defense had its moments, especially first half. Tackling still causes them self inflicted headaches. And love seeing this team always fighting hard. Get better depth and some studs on dl and lb and things look bright.

Not really. You talked about running that play instead of the play where Etienne ended up running out of bounds. We should have tried a roll out on 1st down instead of running into the loaded box. You do know the QB doesn’t have to pass the ball, right? If they key on stopping Brown from running, there should be an easy pass there. If they defend the pass well, Brown have a shot at the run. Napier went ultra-conservative and it bit us.

You can’t blame the offense for this one. The starting QB who’s taken 99.9% of the snaps this season gets knocked out. They still drive down and take the lead, late, against this team.
All the defense ultimately had to do was stop a 4/17, they couldn’t/didn’t, ballgame.

Can you explain why we ran 2 of the last 3 runs on towards the short side of the field?

Fair enough but I would say the odds of converting 4th and 17 are greater, much greater against our defense than most.

It gets much tougher to rush inside the 20. That 3rd down play didn't need a td just a first. It was a huge call and looked like a give up to me. Best scenario was QB pulls and has option to pass or run. Worst case he goes down in bounds. It really was the play to win the game and we didn't seem very aggressive there.

In the correct position wouldn’t be talent and experience issues. That’s coaching issues. If you’re in position to make a tackle and you consistently miss it then the coaches are teaching poor tackling. 11th game of the season is no time for excuses. It’s become a pattern.

When do we stop hearing the young player excuse? Is there a number of games played or a certain snap count where we can say they are no longer a young player?
