Not necessarily on 3rd down. Should have ran that on 1st or 2nd down. That play would be expected on 3rd down.
I sure hope Graham Mertz will be OK, but I have nothing bad to say about Max Brown. Sure he made some mistakes, but he came in and fought to win that game and in the end, he set us up to win as well as Graham could have. We could win bigtime with the skill position players we have on offense. Trevor Etienne could carry this team running the ball behind a line that's coached by one good OL coach.
And perhaps the breakdown was really a fluke. The other guy in the spot was covered. Things happen. Especially to us lately.
I mean, I thought it… 4th and 17, statistically we have this, the chances are slim to none they make it. And as soon as I thought it I regretted it because I knew inevitably we would lose. 4th and 17…
Folks forget that we also had miracle plays to give us the lead late in the 4th quarter. But you've been around long enough to know who would get the blame for this...
No. We just have a lot of young kids. They make mistakes. We are going to grow up and keep stockpiling players and we are going to win big in the near future!
If he just swing out to pass the ball he can either run it or pass it. The pocket was not there and maybe we moving him around against FSU in next week's game, becasue he's sitting duck in that pocket. We need to adapt and move Max around... and let him pick and choose to pass the ball, or to run the ball. We have to be ware that Max Brown is mobile and that he is NOT Mertz back there in the pocket.
My desire for an OC is simple. Billy's offense is fine. But it's not elite. And if it's not elite, it's not worth taking his attention away from HC duties. It's really that simple. I don't want him worrying about getting in a play call when there are so many other things he could be monitoring
This is exactly it. Clear as day in real time. Just like end of halves with him. Playing out the clock.
Maybe. But it would have been more understandable that what ended up happening. Give Max a run/pass option on 1st down, and maybe we aren’t in a 3rd in long because of two straight runs into a stacked defense. We are way too predictable in certain offensive situations.
Review the total yardage our D have up the last five games and you may see a trend. They gave up an 85 yard and a plus 50 yard run by Edwards in LSU game. We are making history this year on D and not in a good way.
Florida was averaging 11 yards per rush on that final drive, but people think he should have thrown it once they got in FG range with a green QB.
What if he was able to scheme around some talent deficiencies until teams got enough film to exploit our weaknesses? What if the young players are hitting the wall at the end of the season? What if the the injuries mounting are having an effect on a defense that already has holes with regard to talent and experience? Nah. Defense bad DC bad why bother looking any deeper?
I'm well aware. You're not going to find me defending this defense. I'm just saying the odds of a team converting a 4th and 17, even against this defense, is incredibly small.
