In a general sense, they provide less in the way of flexibility and services for no real upside. And they often pay a lower rate than a savings account.

Mike Johnson is definitely a closet homosexual

It is why he hates the gays so much.

He is one. And he was BORN that way.

More to come from this story.

Why does Mike Johnson hate America? He sounds like an end-timer - not a good world view when you are tasked with help planning for the country's future.
Mike Johnson Says America Deserves God's Wrath During Jim Garlow Calls

IN AN OCTOBER prayer call hosted by a Christian-nationalist MAGA pastor, Rep. Mike Johnson was troubled that America’s wickedness was inviting God’s wrath.

Talking to pastor Jim Garlow (a Christian Nationalist, Seven Mountains Mandate) on a broadcast of the World Prayer Network, Johnson spoke ominously of America facing a “civilizational moment.” He said, “The only question is: Is God going to allow our nation to enter a time of judgment for our collective sins? … Or is he going to give us one more chance to restore the foundations and return to Him?”

Discussing the risk of divine retribution, Johnson invoked Sodom, the Old Testament city destroyed by God for its wickedness with a rain of burning sulfur. Johnson is a polished orator, but in a closing prayer with Garlow he grew tearful. Johnson intoned, “We repent for our sins individually and collectively. And we ask that You not give us the judgment that we clearly deserve.”

The prayer calls underscore the new House speaker’s alarming alignment with Christian nationalism — the extremist movement that holds America is not a secular democracy but was founded as a Christian nation and should be governed to uphold a fundamentalist morality. They also provide fresh evidence of Johnson’s apocalyptic worldview, in which he sees America as existing in “disastrous, calamitous” times and “hanging by a thread.” It raises questions about whether the Republican, who’s now second in line for the presidency, is leveraging his power not just to avoid a government shutdown, but to appease an angry deity — and avoid a more permanent Heavenly Shutdown.

Pretty clear that if he could get away with it, we would become a theocracy. Not at all what the founders intended. Freedom of religion is not the same as a theocracy. See also, the establishment clause.

Partisanship is a sickness. Sage observation from a friend …

In October of 2022 Congress had an approval rating of 21%. For the November election, there were a total of 469 incumbents seeking re-election - 435 Representatives and 34 Senators.
Each and every one of these politicians except 9 were re-elected by the very people that overwhelmingly did not approve of the job these politicians had been doing. That is a 98% retention rate of these ineffective, incompetent politicians.
If you or I were working in an organization and our job performance was rated at 21%, I guarantee neither one of us would have a job very long yet these clowns are rewarded for it.

It sounds like a strange parenting decision but it’s his kid he can parent how he wants(within reason) but giving a third party access to your phone for a ranking politician is concerning.

Although it should be rather obvious while American voters hate Congress as a whole they love their own Senators and Representatives. Keep in mind that members Congress do not represent the American people, they represent the voters of their individual states and districts. Some examples. I suspect that while most Americans consider Tommy Tuberville an ignorant a-hole who has done considerable damage to the US military the voters of Alabama probably still love him. Same for Marjorie Taylor Greene of Jewish space laser and gazpacho police fame. While the majority of American voters probably consider her a nutcake, the residents of Georgia's 14th District will almost certainly continue to reelect her as long as she runs for that seat.

Exhibit 1,000,001 why we should never have nutty religious fruit loops in elected office. There should be some kind of test.

CNN Unearths Audio of New House Speaker Calling Humans ‘Inherently Evil’ and Abortion a ‘Holocaust’

JOHNSON: One of the primary purposes of the law in civil government is to restrain evil… We have to acknowledge collectively that man is inherently evil and needs to be restrained. That’s– see, that’s the problem with the radical left. They don’t acknowledge a God.”

Edit I remember this vaguely from HS. This is Calvinism. I thought it was dead. Not so! It’s a pillar of evangelical thought.

    Troubling…

Feel free to start a CNN thread but this one is reserved for discussion of nutty religious fruit loops in govt such as the new speaker of the house.

He dumped 40,000 hours of footage from 1/6, which contributes to why CNN does not like him.

As in not at all. He’s a nutty religious fruit loop. It’s why everyone other than nutty religious fruit loops instantly hates him. This clown is one disaster away from being President which would be a disaster for the world. Nov 24 can’t come soon enough to deal with this nut.

    Interesting video.
I'm shocked to read he's a practicing Catholic and his wife converted to Catholicism. He's a character for sure.

Basically the same boring tactic as a few years ago when leftists protested the neo-Nazi’s who made a show of touring college campuses. The game being played on the right was: “Look at that tolerant left - hErP dErP”. As if Nazi ideology is something to be tolerated.

To be clear, I’m not comparing Johnson to Nazis in any way, instead the hypocritical call out for this supposed lack of tolerance of hardliners. I’d say Calvinism, from what I understand of it, is hardly compatible with the U.S. constitution. Of course to disqualify someone based on their religion is also not in line with the constitution. The conundrum is folks on the far right (particularly these hard line evangelicals and the play actors like MTG and Boebert) seem perfectly ok with violating religious and personal liberties once they get their hands on the levers of govt. As if everyone needs to adhere to their personal religious ideals. That’s not how freedom works. Also laughable considering how many of their ideals are phony and largely not adhered to.
