When I was a student at UF I don't think they had put up do not feed the gators signs at Lake Alice yet but Mrs51 and I used to go down and feed the alligators. One day some guy was walking his dog along the waters edge and a big gator charged the little pup. The man quickly kicked at the charging gator which proceeded to clamp down on the man's boot. The man or the dog weren't injured but the man did lose his boot. Don't know if the gator ate it but he sure took it.

At about 9 feet annd greater alligators are capable of killing an average human.

Last I knew, nuisance alligator trappers contracted to FWC will come remove a Gator greater than 4 feet. The gator is their paycheck. They do not relocate them.

There are some magic words to use that increase the likelihood of a quick response.

A German eco-warrior was determined to prove that logging had caused a bear to abandon his den in Poland by filming himself entering the den to show it was empty. That was when he was attacked by . . . wait for it . . . a bear! Wound up in the hospital, badly mauled.

Caught on camera: moment bear emerges from den to maul eco-activist

Anyone notice how much Joe Rogan hates bears? Every type. Has a phobia.

I got chewed out by a lady in the smoky mountains for messing up her facebook video of a bear. My daughter said “I hear mom outside” even though I knew my wife was in the bathhouse. I step outside and am 6 feet from this boar bear. I had a can of wasp spray and air horn on the picnic table. When it locked eyes with me and started sniffing I let the horn blast. It ran off and that lady was so mad because “it’s just a campground bear”.

Another sad story of animals and plastics. In UAE (middle east), camel autopsies have revealed plastic blobs in the digestive tract of camels that range in size from a basketball to a large suitcase. A camel is a fairly simple-minded animal, and if something in the desert that is not sand, then it assumes that it's food and eats it.

Scientists stunned by disturbing discoveries during autopsies of dead camels: ‘The most surreal thing in the world’

Yep, as I was told “every place that can support a gator already has one.”

Ignorant Americans' fascination with wildlife (and the desire to interact with it like they are in a Disney movie) sometimes turns deadly. An Alabama couple decided it was a good idea to have a half-wolf as a pet, until their pet ate their 3-month-old baby.

The half-wolf was euthanized. Unfortunately, the parents were not. (Just kidding--I think.)

Family’s pet ‘wolf-hybrid’ kills 3-month-old baby in Alabama, sheriff’s office says | CNN

Very sad. I have always been fascinated by wolves (from a distance), but I'd read before that hybrid wolves are more dangerous because pure wolves tend to avoid people if at all possible.

You know these people have to be doing all kinds of mental gymnastics to get past the question "How could we have been so stupid to let our infant get mauled?"
