Now these refs make sure the stats are even better by calling a foul and shooting FTs after the horn sounded.
Tough loss today (free throws), but I'm surprised that we have a winning record in women's basketball vs fsu. Must have really dominated in the Muriel Page and Delisha Milton years.
Really like what I'm seeing from the Gators. We're shaping into a strong team. Likely to do better than projected.
Ball game.. Noles win 79-74 We had our chances, however I am proud of how our Ladies competed today..a few more made FTs and we could have pulled it out Go Gators!
lost it during crunch time, I am just surprised KR didnt have her top freshman on the floor and Kyle in. Plus Matharu missing those 2 FTs up 3 just shot our momentum. She was gassed, Zippy will get more minutes as the season goes on but not having her available for more kind of killed back court depth for now..plus Myka leaving our program before the season.
FSU made the plays they had to in the 4th quarter, but This Gator team is going to win a lot of games, IMO. I, also, can't wait until Zippy gets playing in game shape and can do her thing once again. Our bench outscored theirs 20-8 and we had 14 2nd chance points to their 6, plus 7 blocks to their 3. But 16 turnovers and 9-16 from the free throw line did us in. Learn from it and move on. Gooo Gators!!
I didn't see the whole game, just the lastb7-6 minutes, I heard the commentators say, when Rashayla Kyle went out for some time, that's when Florida State made a run. Anyone can explain that ? Also there were critical free throws Boutnthe last 3-4 minutes of the game.that was critical, you have to make those free throws, would of made a difference in the game. Last question I have it seem like free throw difference was lopsided, was it many no calls/foul calls ?
Not a fan of your shortest player and best 3 pt shooter inbounding the ball and being guarded by FSU's taller defender when you are trying to get a look at a 3. But that's just me.
I agree about Kyle and Zippy but it's hard for me to fault a coach for not have a baby freshman in during crunch time this early in the season (with Bertie available). Still, this is the kind of discussion I'm looking forward to us having more in WBB. A f$u girl launched herself backwards on a rebound and wound-up turning Kyle's ankle when she fell sitting on it. Kyle went out and the team went into a little 2:00-3:00 funk it seemed. Not so much dirty just really rough. That's how I saw it anyway.
There were plenty of mistakes from players and coaches. The refs IMO actually favored UF so don't get the complaints there. Some wrong both ways but more went for Florida than against. The team is definitely better this year though and should be an NCAA tournament team which is progress. Get the influx of talent next year... our bigs are not good... and then we can really take that next step hopefully. Proud of the fight though. FSU is a really good team.
FSU has a guard named Latson who was the National freshman of the year last season. She lit us up like a Christmas Tree scoring at will and finishing with 35 points! Other than her, I like Florida’s team better, player for player. FSU lead the entire first half until UF made the final shot for first lead of the half. Florida outplayed FSU for most of second half until Kyle fell on an FSU player and went to the locker room with UF up 9 with 8 minutes left in Q4. FSU immediately took advantage of her absence and drove the lane for several easy layups to cut the lead to one. UF fought back to build the lead back to 5 but as you watched we collapsed in the final couple of minutes. We had 3 empty possessions in a row where we took off balance shots or threw the ball away. And then missing 4 of 8 free throws during crunch time didn’t help. Lots of new players on team. As season progresses I believe they will learn to win games like this.
That was an all world beat down. This gator basketball team is far removed from what they were a year ago. Kudos to Coach Gould. He’s rebuilt a team that I think he probably can play with anybody in the SEC.
