ok now that the half is officially over - that was the most dominant half against a Power 6 team I think we've ever played - or damn close!
Coach said to Lee on the radio (paraphrasing): He has been waiting for a half like this all year. The kids have had some really good scrimmages Great example of what this team can be. Something good about the rim (but I couldn't hear what). Overall very happy with their performance.
The poise of the freshmen have been incredible and the defensive pressure and rebounding have been great. Excellent passing and shot selection for the most part. Have FSU totally frustrated and out of their game. They're not used to getting dominated on the boards. No letdown the 2nd half!
Got to imagine the shooting percentages come down in the second half but not if we keep up the defensive intensity and the good passing for easy buckets and only take clean 3s, not forced 3s. The depth of talent on this team that can all score, pass and defend is great. Hauch coming off the bench and delivering 8 boards is unreal. The young guys are hungry and should keep up the D intensity all night.
I knew we had an advantage on the boards from all their single shot possessions . . . but that's amazingly great!
Pullin and any other combination of guards works quite well. Maybe, but if we still are up by this kind of margin with 7 minutes to go, we're going to start emptying the bench.
Like the announcers said... the league has severely underestimated the quality of transfer players on the Gators' team.
