I tend to agree with you, but, not because of his talent level. With his style of play, he gets injured too much. That will also wear his body down quickly and probably force a shortened career. It's a catch-22 situation, because, if he changes his style of play to reduce the wear-and-tear on his body, then he becomes a mediocre QB. Hope I'm wrong, he's a good dude. He never gave us anything less than his all when he was here and stayed out of trouble. I wish him the best.

    OR...

his style of play is akin to proverbially shooting oneself in the foot. It looks bad, but in the end, you are not held to the same standard as other busts. If it just weren't for the injuries during those noble runs...

As I have said, his signing is ALL on the GM and not him. If he is "washed up" by the end of next year, he gets to cry all the way to the bank. Not "Jimbo" levels, but still.

He can definitely be set for life if he manages his money well.

I believe that is Vernell Brown's job.

It took Jimbo two decades to get that check.

Honestly of his final 7 I like our chances. He probably has the best relationship with lagway of all the QB's on those other team finalists.

I'm shocked when we get any 5 star the last 10 years or so that actually plays like a 5 star. So I for one am not counting on him signing with us if he's the real deal. But that's probably more of a coping mechanism for all the ones we don't get or get that don't pan out. ;)

Why do you think his perceived relationship with a fellow recruit that plays QB will have a significant impact in determining where he ends up signing? Versus things like: distance, recent winning tradition, program that has put his position into the NFL, relationship with the head coach/position coach?

Do you really think a high school QB that has only been through one recruiting cycle will have more impact on a recruitment than Nick Saban and his OL Coach?

Just go though his twitter post and see how many times he mentions "a great QB always needs a Great lineman" and other replies he's done over last couple months.. it was clear he would like to be playing with and protecting a good QB. Also of those 7 they all don't mesh with your proposed preferences. Ohio state isnt ideal location, colorado, hasnt won amd location isnt ideal, maryland is the hometown team but no winning there, Tenn, isnt far distance wise from his hometown bit they aint won anything, but hes currently playing at IMG so I'm not sure anything in the southeast is a distance issue. Oregon is the furthest and still haven't really won anything of significance. IMO Bama, Tenn.Ohio state, and a fading Colorado were UFs best competition.

And to be clear I said of the 7 listed I like out chances, didn't say we were the favorite because when Bama is involved you never know.

I didn't see FSU up there in his finalist. Where yall stand with him?

And I think NIL trumps all of these...in most cases. For kids that come from affluent families, maybe not. But for most of them, all that other stuff is second tier.

I know it's sad that it is true. But, to be fair, it's true for most adults when looking for jobs. You know the saying, "It isn't all about the money...but it's all about the money."
