What am I missing here? Shouldn't we actually want every social media name to be tied to an actual person? I don't know how to do it, but with the growth and influence of social media shouldn't we want the bots rooted out?
Well, a few questions to start with are whether it should be voluntary or mandatory, how it might be enforced if at all, whether enforcement would be constitutional, and whether it'd be a good idea for the government to essentially eliminate anonymous posting. I think bots are annoying and maybe even dangerous, but there's also a value with people being able to speak their mind without fear of being doxed.
Hmmm, that's got me thinking that this job would be a lot better if I were armed and had permission to shoot violators. I'll check with Growl.
I hear you and agree. But i also think with the influence that social media has and we have seen what fake posts can do, I think we need to do something. I like the anonymity but i also believe that is what has turned social media into such a dangerous place. I haven't been caught in it but if you look to try and purchase anything from like marketplace or any social media based auctions, they are getting filled with scams.
Fair points. I think actual scams constitute fraud and are not considered protected speech. I think (hope) that law enforcement and prosecutors have tools to address fraud committed online without risking the chilling of protected yet unpopular speech.
she is arrogant and a war hawk. The worst possible combination. She’s someone who would do well executing orders, such as secretary of state, but I don’t believe I would trust her to give orders.
The general idea makes some sense to me. I doubt she’ll get far with it. I don’t get caught up in all the things politicians say. My hope is she continues to act like an adult and leans moderately conservative. She has my vote locked up.
