I said this in another thread that I feel like we are Mizzou from last year, poor record, played tough, lost to the better teams and some they shouldn't have lost till they learned how to win games in the end. If we get Mertz back next year we could be really good on offense as well.

That was good read and analysis of CBN...He is a nice man for sure...I sure do hope he makes smart decisions in the off season and doesnt demonstrate Dan Mullen stubbornness..we are staring at a 5 game losing streak and if wisdom doesnt come this off season..a 6 game losing streak to start 2024...

I was all in with the author until this: "That’s why the old Nebraska wishbone offense became obsolete"

My memory is getting fuzzy so I won't say it never happened, but I can't recall Nebraska ever running the Wishbone. They were known for their power running I formations with giant corn-fed (among other things ;)) O-linemen leading the way. Maybe the author was thinking of Oklahoma or Alabama.

I looked at their recruiting rankings for the past 4 years.

    2022 = 15th 2021 = 26th 2020 = 50th 2119 = 38th

Most Gators fans would be cutting their own throats with these recruiting classes.
Either they are getting great walk-ons or they are good at player development.

Exactly, both Eli and Norvell are in their fourth-year building, and that usually pays off.

    Patience is a virtue!

If one has enough time one can recreate the Mona Lisa. Assuming one has the talent and freedom to do so.

Rough few years to start and nothing about running him out of town in the press and any meaningful social media. Maybe the chick running their athletic programs know better what to do.

Wake me up when Missouri finishes in the top ten three or four years in a row and wins at least one SEC championship. In the meantime, please please please stop looking to perennial also-rans like Kentucky and Missouri as models for why we need to be patient. They’ve both fielded good teams in the past at various times, but they’re nothing like what we should be willing to accept.

    Yo, Hankster!

    Since they joined the SEC:

    2012: Florida 14, Mizzou 7
    2013: Mizzou 36, florida 17
    2014: Mizzou 42, Florida 13
    2015: Florida 21, Mizzou 3
    2016: Florida 40, Mizzou 14
    2017: Mizzou 45, Florida 16
    2018: Mizzou 38, Florida 17
    2019: Florida 23, Mizzou 6
    2020: Florida 41, Mizzou 17
    2021: Mizzou 24, Florida 23
    2022: Florida 24, Mizzou 17

Florida 6 wins, Mizzou 5 wins

Care to bet that Mizzou won't even it up?

Oh, and number of SEC championships since Mizzou joined?

    Florida 0, Mizzou 0

So you're saying we should aspire to 0 SEC championships every 12 year span? o_O

No one ASPIRES to that. But at the same time, reality tells us we are nowhere NEAR that. Sorry, but the Ball Coach is pushing 80, and Urban is nearly 60. Our last SEC title is 15 years ago. Someday, we can no longer expect MNCs and SEC titles as our due and slowly work our way back to being at least respectable, before we can talk about being great. Nebraska and Miami are still working on it.

Aspirations and expectations are two different things...

Hankster's post said we shouldn't aspire (I think his exact word was model) to be like Mizzou. He's right.

It doesn't mean that most of us aren't living in the reality that we're most likely going to get our butts kicked this weekend and that it will take a while to get back to what we do aspire to be.

Your post got me to do some Googling and I found this interesting story from what I believe is December 2001.
On another note, yes you are correct about Nebraska not running the Wishbone.
