His girlfriend didn’t like Gainesville so he ended up in LA. That’s all you need to know about what his priorities are.

He hasn't been able to sniff a semblance of the success he had there prior at Oregon, and it's been at best the 4th best conference of the power 5 except maybe this year. No way his slack approach to college coaching and all that entails would have him at the top of the SEC.

Honestly, if true I don’t think that’s a case of bad prioritization.

If we are going to resurrect that 1000 page thread, it wouldn't be complete without STAB.

I think that’s why fired coaches keep getting hired somewhere else. They sell themselves well and there’s always hope that the new environment will be better.

It always amazed me about the pros that “fired coach” doesn’t seem to be a stigma on the resume. Although, Bill Belichick was fired at Cleveland and eventually ended up doing OK at New England.

Chip should have stayed in Oregon, man were they good.
Crazy that Chip, Frost and Mullen are out of a job and none stuck. wild.

Not for him, but bad for the school. And it’s just a gf, not wife, kids, family

Chip would have failed horribly at UF. He is Mullen II. Didn't like to recruit and didn't like to talk to people. At least his PC would have been short.

Chip had to get out of Dodge because the NCAA was breathing down his neck.

SS really wanted Chip. Thought he was a football savant after meeting with him the first time.

I wonder if Dante Moore sticks around. Could be an interesting piece in the portal (not necessarily for us with Lagway coming)

TBF, Mullen had the most success of the three.

I thought Frost had the best potential to lead us to a Championship.

Just read an article on Stricklin’s coaching search and Frost was unimpressive in the interview and didn’t return calls. I guess he was eyeing that Nebraska job.

If we hired Chip as OC - that means no Kerwin Bell though right?

The lesson of this is programs win, not coaches. Ever since Phil Knight and Nike started pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into the athletic program and essentially running it, all the coaches have won. Mike Bellotti won a ton starting around 2000 and then transitioned into athletic director. After that it went

Chip Kelly: Won 12 games 3 out of 4 seasons and jumped to NFL
Mark Helfrich: Played in national championship game
Willie Taggart: Only went 7-5 but looked promising enough to get FSU job
Mario Cristobal: Had 9, 10, and 12-win seasons before getting Miami job
Dan Lanning: About to win at least 10 games each of first two seasons

Winning in football is such an institutional task it almost doesn't even matter who the coach is.
