But thats been that way before they committed? What changed? And Kelby Collins, TJ Searcy and Kamran James have done well progressing this year as true freshman. Not saying that's it but that would be odd considering Larry Johnson was a better Dline coach prior to him committing. Wonder what else is up? We getting a new DC?
One of my arguments for Billy's recruiting acumen was that, prior to this class, we had almost ZERO flips AWAY from us, once committed. Something isn't right. I think it has little to nothing to do with the product on the field. What gives?
Our bank account is just getting tested. Do we want to overpay or just pay equal money and let the big boys take our talent.
Another factor is the every one of the recent flips are from out of State. We still aren't getting the cream of the crop from our own State and I think that matters (and IMG doesn't count).
And don’t forget with the portal, this is the long game. Let the other schools foot the developmental bill on these dudes.
A lot of it is CBN was in on a lot these guys early, really going hard for them earlier than some of these schools, getting them to pull the trigger, then their HS season started all these guys CBN got to commit started balling on the field and all the others came running. Now they are the "new Shiney object" that's telling them what they want to hear. If you ask me it says A lot about CBN ability to recognize talent early on.
I agree he has an uncanny ability to identify talent early. Just need to be able to sign said talent. Tired of other schools waiting for CBN to offer, then they swoop in with pile of cash and sign such talent. Wish Napier could reap the benefit of his evaluation abilities.
