Travis is really good. I do believe I would agree with you with regards to 2 to 3 losses without Travis, who BTW, is another Portal guy obviously. But, I will admit if he doesn’t stay there for a 5th and sixth year he would probably be just another average quarterback.
Graham Mertz and Carson Beck have similar skill sets (accurate pocket passers who can read defenses and are good at going through their progressions but aren't especially athletic). The biggest difference between the two quarterbacks? Georgia ranks 11th in quarterback sacks allowed; Florida ranks 108th (not including the past weekend's games). UGA also has better receivers especially a tight end is also a factor but the biggest difference are the respective offensive lines.
Travis as a portal transfer was a 3-4 year project and without him fsu would be just another 2-3 loss acc team in a log jam. Which was more the focus of my initial post we agree

Imo, I don’t think the portal has been around long enough to say whether you can or can’t sustain building a winning product consistently that way. If you win via the portal, ie say like FSU has, then you will be able to sell it easier to recruits who hit the portal and with winning, HS recruiting should improve. I think Colorado will be a better case study to see how/if you can build a yearly consistent winner via the portal
That’s the thing. Billy is too calculating to be jumping in head first so we are late to the party in this portal thing. I think we will hit it harder this off-season.
i hate to say it, and may even get this post deleted, but shoot START TAMPERING NOW lmao we dont need anyone who’s a depth piece defensively through the portal like we did this past cycle (Moten, Numnery, Mitchell, Spurlock)….we need to be targeting the top portal guys who are instant starters if brought in
I think you will see that this year. I think the NIL situation was a mess and that held us back. We should be off and running this year.
Exactly. We needed the depth pieces too but we needed some strong starters at tackle and lb. This year may be a better time to spend that cash though.
I hope so. But with the recent high profile decommits, I'm starting to get concerned that we have some cracks in our NIL foundation. I assume we're getting outbid.
Surely money is a variable. Better get some more in the kitty. If our class is poached over money, tge writing is on the wall.
Well we may need to re-evaluate who’s going to be available in the portal and potential flip candidates from coach firings.
