I guess. But Kiffen still hasn't won shit as a HC. Not even a divisional title. If money is all that matters, great. But I'm taking the record over the current salary and Mullen has won a divisional title and Kiffen hasn't. Again, same freakin' guy, with Kiffin making more in salary (though I'm pretty sure we're still paying Mullen) and Mullen having accomplished more as a HC. Thus, Kiffen isn't going to save your program any more than Mullen would. Like Mullen at MSU, he's probably at the perfect place for him. But, hey, keep hating on Mullen if it's cathartic for you. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
A large swath of the state is all beach. Just the water is nowhere near it and it has some sage brush growing on it.
Other than money, deciding where you would coach likely falls into two other categories. The competitive itch or administrative support. (Throw in hot coeds as a reason but not everyone is Terry Bowden). The competitive itch is what got Spurrier to try the NFL. Probably the same with Saban. Administrative support is the other one. Think UGA, Bama, OSU, Mich and a bunch of others. A coach will go to where the climate is better for winning and getting a program going even if the money is the same.
I know it is sometimes difficult to follow multiple threads but I never said anyone was talking about firing Kiffin. I replied to the posts about everyone loves Kiffin and pointed out that I know a few Ole Miss fans who are frustrated that he can't win a big game and they claim there are many others. Then I get a reply about how nobody says he is unpopular and you are talking about it being delusional if he gets fired from Ole Miss for not winning the SEC. I never said anything about either of those topics. It would be so much easier in these forums if folks would at least attempt to stay on point.
I’m not hating on Mullen. Just debating you on your points and it looks like your argument is extremely weak. Poll 100 college football fans and I would bet you that over 50% would say Kiffin is a better hire than Mullen at this point. How many division titles did Mullen win in the 10 years he was in the SEC West (which is the direct comparison)? The answer is zero. The fact that your one point on why Mullen’s a better coach than Kiffin is the 1 division title with UF in 4 years as the basis for him being a better coach is laughable. Not sure why you are even debating at this point.
And if you are tell Dan I said hi and thanks again for helping me out that time at the Senior Bowl while he was still at State.
A&M is a better job then Oregon because you don't need to leave the metro area to recruit, at Oregon you are traveling a lot.
There is NO WAY Norvell can get a raise in the level of an SEC team with Texas money. If he is "requesting" some more facilities, he is barking up the wrong tree. The ACC isn't going to generate enough cash to get into "that game". I guess McDonalds can charge a dollar more for a cheeseburger. But that is about all there is.
A couple of good season out of Mullen? That is like have a good time with a street tramp for a night or two and end up with an STD that leads to an amputation.
Opinions are like . . . . So you know what I think of that. What's their reasoning? That they're ESPN media darlings? I'm going with facts. SECCG: Mullen 1, Kiffen 0.
Those guys sucked. What's your point? I think he's a damn good X's and O's offensive coach, but lacks in other areas. Just like Kiffen. Same guy until Kiffy wins something.
So, Chip Kelly then? You've got to be kidding me. I get it. You guys really hate Mullen and are so desperate to justify that hate that you glom onto stupid ideas like Kiffen is a better coach when the records (and lack of success from Kiffy) speak for themselves. Again, whatever helps you sleep at night dude.
What if I told you Kiffin won a division championship with USC, would you change your mind? Lane won the PAC-12 South in 2011. USC was ineligible for a conference championship or bowl because of NCAA sanctions. Please come up with another criteria to hang your hat on.
This is what I said: “Mullen got hired because we whiffed on Kelly and Frost and SS had to scramble to get his Plan C before Tennessee got to him.” What part of that did you construe as an opinion on any of these guys’ coaching acumen?
