Amazing what happens to inflation when you don't calculate any expense that is felt in the course of everyday life.
My pt/arg is as it has been from the get go. Use monetary policy to control general prices levels. In the case of inflation, raise rates, reduce inflation. HARD STOP. If you want to keep getting deeper in the big muddy by "exchanging points" you can just paste this in as my reply each time.
Why can't you guys just put it in real world terms, the huge price increases we've seen the past few years are starting to level off?
If you do the calculus you will see a negligible impact to real inflation. Not updated this month yet which will see another month where you are making out.
YOUR graph shows inflation rising faster than wages for nearly 2 years from about March 21 to about Jan 23. Now we have a few flats months, and everything is now grand? A ton of folks are still trying to climb out of the debt they created for those 2 years. You just keep posting graphs that tell us how great things are and that Biden is the economic genius. The rest of us will live in the real world.
Look at the area between the curves from Jan 2020 onward. Basically we are flat to 2019. Hopefully you understand the math.
Coke stated over a year ago as long as consumer behavior didnt change they wouldn't adjust their pricing and increased them at that time. Aluminum prices received the biggest blame yet beer prices and off brand sodas didn't increase at nearly the same clip. Diet coke was one of my guilty pleasures but we have since moved to off brand when we even bother keeping it at the house at all. We have dropped a lot of the more unhealthy foods due to price increases.
I understand math just fine and understand your graph just fine, do you? Yes, current is inflation is about flat to 2 years ago. It's just that big ass mountain of inflation in the middle that increased the base by nearly 20 % that we all live with every day!
Really!!! Why bother with you guys? Yes, in several to 5 to 10 years it will not make a difference. But today everyone is looking at how they paid 20-30-40% less just 2 years ago. Do you guys get out much with any common people and actually talk to and interact with them or are guys just stuck ion the keyboard for any social interactions?
