If anything, it will come down to money. Lanning is making $7M and TAMU can pay him more. And the timing says he may need to strike when the iron is hot as Nix is gone next year.
As I’ve said, money wouldn’t factor much for me if I already made 7 mil a year. Does it changed my quality of life? Is he a guy that needs to make a million more than the other coach? A&M has shown that they will give a coach time so they have that in their favor. Job security and knowing the school will provide everything needed to win is satisfied at both schools. This is a slippery slope that UF is on right now and why I would demand Napiers type of contract to come to UF. Either school would be fine for me but I’d stay where I’m at. Saban jumped around and it worked for him but I’d rather stay in place and build. Maybe A$ M could provide more but it looks good where he is right now. 75 mil buyout though changes a lot of minds but it also kills initiative to win when losing pay more than winning.

Pretty sure the reason for bringing in any new head coach is because the 'state' of a program is not good. That doesn't change the fact before during and after Kiffin that USC is considered a big time program. You can spin it any way you want but he failed there. He just isn't the accomplished coach you seem to think he is. He failed at UT, he failed with Oakland, he failed with USC and he has done nothing special at Ole Miss in what is now his fourth season there. As I stated earlier, he is best off staying where he is.

Ole miss is ole miss. What he’s doing is pretty much the ceiling there. If they fire him for not winning the sec , they are delusional.
I’m talking about many of these coaches would not have a shot at where they are currently at based on your criteria. That means Saban wasn’t good enough for LSU, Urban wasn’t good enough for UF (Utah was in the MWC at the time), Dabo definitely not good enough for Clemson, Smart not good enough for UGA…and I could go on. You may need to loosen up them standards a bit, especially when you’re A&M and hasn’t won anything since RC Slocum.
