Years ago I had a friend who was one of the assistant deans at UC Berkeley graduate school of business. He complained to me once that Texas A&M would come to town with boat loads of money and lure away their best professors. Should also work with football coaches.

Woah, would love for the Aggies to hire Franklin. Hard to believe they would be that dumb....again. talk about an overrated coach. Ten years and 1 big 10 championship and no chance this year.
Plus I believe Franklin is born and raised in Pa, that's a long way from Aggie culture

A&M is much better job than Oregon. Bigger fanbase, better recruiting area, more money, SEC > B1G currently.

There’s only a handful of coaches that have won what you’re talking about. With your standards, Lanning, Sarkesian, Norvell, Franklin and many on that list wouldn’t get a shot.

Oregon has tge money to compete possibly. The paycheck is comparable and if I had to leave the beach I’d say Oregon is no worse than Texas. Recruiting may be tougher but they still have a decent path. Neither have won but either could. I guess A&M may be considered the better job but for me persoanslly, it’s be a tossup.

I’ll add two more…Oregon’s Autzen Stadium holds 54k to TAMU’s Kyle Field’s 103k and Texas > Oregon IMO as far as states go.

Ive got a lot of family in Texas and they all like it. No beach is a no go for me though. They technically have a beach but not up to par. If I was coaching, I’d just want the opportunity to win. How many stacks of millions does matter but either would suffice. Oregon has had their shots at titles, A&M hasn’t. I’m sure the opportunity is there and Oregon in the past had the easier path but job quality for me personally would be a tossup. I’d have to visit both to decide where I’d rather live. I guess. A&M may have more cash but Oregon seems to have enough to pay for a legit program. To me , I’d just want to know I had everything I needed to win and didn’t feel like it was an uphill battle. Maybe A&M has the advantage there but to me it’s splitting hairs. They probably have more money and fans that most but Oregon is still a place a coach can win. I’d be I hell in Tuscaloosa or Auburn, Ohio stay etc

The people who live there love the guy.

So you are WRONG. Their expectations are much lower.

Of course, you can't please all fans, but if you think Kiffin is unpopular, you aren't dialed in with the vast majority. Probably one of your Texas boys has our ear.

Do you know anything about the state of USC football when Kiffin took over? You might want to take the time to educate yourself. And what has USC done since he left? Nada.

Look, I'm not advocating for Kiffin to come to UF, because I don't want him, but he is doing a good job at Ole Miss and is well liked there. But carry on.

Yeah, he vaulted to #1 beating a crappy LSU team, then was gobsmacked by the rest of his schedule.

Oregon may have had an easier path in the PAC-12, but in the B1G, they’re going to have a tough time. Also factor in the travel to games like Rutgers and Maryland…yikes. A&M definitely has the tougher path, but they have all the resources in the world as they are up there with the Texas and USC of the college football world.

There’s a lot that goes into it but give or take a few million dollars, where do I have to live is a big factor for me. A& M has cash and fans but is that enough to bend everyone? Lanning will never have to worry about money so to me, that’s no longer a factor. He has a good thing going right now. If he’s likes his quality of life where he is, I’d stay put if I were him. There’s very little in the move in my favor if it were me. If he thinks the move greatly increases his chances for a title, maybe he should consider it i guess.
