Yeah, I don't get that one either. Franklin just signed a huge extension a couple years ago. That said, he is the name being discussed all over the Aggie campus right now. I don't see any way they get him. Still think they would be best off with Jonathan Smith both for what he has done and he would be cheaper than alot of those toward the top of that list.
I agree. I personally think it is just students and wishful thinking on their part. I really hope they don't go get Franklin because it would be Jimbo 2.0 in my opinion.
Coaches at major programs making lateral moves doesn’t happen often. For instance, why leave Oregon for A$M. Just doesn’t make sense unless they get a Dumbo buyout and then it’s a no brainer.
He has been to the big time...It didn't work out for him. He should stay where he is just like McElwain should stay where he is.
Agreed, which is why I think they should go after Jonathan Smith. Big success at Oregon State and the conference goes away next year and they are currently looking like a member of the AAC for next season. That will not look good on his resume. Time to get out and take a step up to see if he can do it with a major program.
I'd be surprised if the new guy wasn't already a "done deal". Esp given the fact that they fired him before the season was over after a home win. The reality is that NOBODY is going to come in the SEC as a head coach of a losing team and WIN big. The ONLY thing that wins in this league is ELITE RECRUITING and CONTINUITY. I think you could put Kirby or Saban or Dabo in College Station or Gainesville and it would still take them 3-4 seasons to compete for championships. This isn't the SEC that Urban Meyer or SOS walked into. It sucks for them to start over (again). And it would suck for us. I hope our next coach is Napier's replacement after Billy retires or moves on to the NFL.
I think bill belicheck makes a certain amount of sense. Robert Kraft needs to fire him. Stranger things have happened.
Technically you are correct but I would hope you recognize, that is sad when we are talking someone being talked up as a big time college football coach who has had his chances at big time college programs and has never won a thing when in charge of those big time programs.
2021 was just a terrible year right? Throw out the bowl game as 2/3 of our O declared and didn’t play..
Flew through the Houston Airport today and was keeping an eye out for Jimbo figuring we would be on his way out of town. Then I remembered if you get paid $76 million not to coach, you fly private. I would not be surprised if A&M goes after Lanning. Not sure what it is about Oregon but their head coaches are willing to leave.
For one thing Kiffin has a winning sec record at ole miss ,6 games over .500 while mullen was 6 gms under .500 at state. Mullen should never have been hired at UF.
Any chance A&M tries to go after Dabo? He's getting annoyed with Clemson folks. Then again, the pressure at A&M will be worse. I guess I talked myself out of that as quickly as I considered it
