Agreed the hyperbole from both sides can go way too far at times. There are those that call everyone from the left Communists. But in this case, the "vermin", "poisoning the blood", and other rhetoric? It's straight out of the Fascist hatebook. It's dangerous, and should not be tolerated.

I’m assuming incoherent like everything he says, but I did not hear him speak. I did see him get lost on his 15 ft walk back to his place next to the bus lady.

I assume you are referring to Biden. If not, I did not hear Trump speak either.

where do I find the “fascist handbook” of which you speak? Can I order it from Amazon or do I need to go directly to the DNC?

I guess you'll be one of the 54,000. All the best of luck with that.

Mein Kampf is one book to start with regarding rhetoric about blood poisoning. Even assuming the old reports about Ivana Trump claiming Trump kept a book of Hitler's speeches by his bed are untrue, the fixation on blood lines is well known. The slogan "blood and soil" also got a lot of attention following Charlottesville.

    meinkampf.html

Hitler, Adolf. Mein Kampf. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1943.

However much the soil, for example, can influence men, the result of the influence will always be different depending on the races in question. The low fertility of a living space may spur the one race to the highest achievements; in others it will only be the cause of bitterest poverty and final undernourishment with all its consequences. The inner nature of peoples is always determining for the manner in which outward influences will be effective. What leads the one to starvation trains the other to hard work.

All great cultures of the past perished only because the originally creative race died out from blood poisoning.

At a broader level, notwithstanding the specific actions we think the new administration might take, is the very definition of what our nation is and how loyalty to it is defined.

For most of our history, at least as a matter of aspiration, we all agreed that it means loyalty to the Constitution, the rule of law. The Charlottesville crowd and most of the modern far right has a blood and soil definition of nationality, that national loyalty is tied to a specific ethnic group tied to a specific land.

The latter definition is exactly what this is enforcing. And it is profoundly anti-American by every prior legal definition of what it takes to be an American, including the oath of office of the President would take.

I'd also check Mussolini's The Doctrine of Fascism.

“Fascism, in short, is not only a law-giver and a founder of institutions but an educator and a promoter of spiritual life. It aims at refashioning not only the forms of life but also their content--man, his character, and his faith. To achieve this propose, it enforces discipline and uses authority, entering into the soul and ruling with undisputed sway.”

The premise of your post is stupid. Trump is clearly using nazi and fascist rhetoric, but rather than call that out, you're bitching about the left calling it out.

That speech tells one all one needs to know about Trump and the extreme.danger he poses to the Republic. That there are people in this country who still support him and his vision for America does not surprise me. There are such people in every country.....and they have invariably destroyed their country.

In my mind, many people who support Trump probably have no understanding about the historical significance of some of the language he uses. So he gets to have plausible deniability with that group while simultaneously throwing red meat to those who do get it and gaslighting those who point all this out. I'm sure he sees it as a win/win for his purposes whether or not he actually cares about any of these issues himself.

do you have any idea how ridiculous you and your friends sound when you compare everything to Hitler? Does Hitler own the “rodent comparison” observation? Let’s go a step further, shall we?

Who on this message board owns a German Shepard? Step into the light you Nazi scum!

Hyperbole on a sports message board from posters with little to no power, speaking mostly anonymously is one thing Hyperbole from a former President and leading candidate to run again that invokes Nazi messages? That goes far beyond hyperbole because of the power this person commands. It's truly dangerous. Trump literally called his political foes on the left "vermin." Know who else used that exact word to describe his enemies? Hitler, who used it to define Jews.

As someone with a Jewish heritage, I hope you can understand just how effing frightening this is, and how it goes so far beyond hyperbole on a message board. Maybe you can understand? Maybe not. If not, I hope they never come for you and yours...
