With regard to Scott Stricklin, he has had one really bad hire so far, that I can remember. Napier is NOT that one bad hire.. he is in his 2nd year, so all this talk of SS being on the same chopping block as Napier is premature at this point in time. And other people reading what's said here are not happy about what we people are saying on these boards.

Now I'm not sure I was calling you out, I just feel that any talk about Napier and SS is a bit over the top to even mention at this point in time.

Lol... yeah, this is a scarier roller-coaster ride than most of other we've been on lately.

Rick is 100% right. I remind everyone again . . . contrary to what a few Eyeores keep insisting so they can justify posting whatever they want . . . players, recruits, their families and friends, read these very forums. It's the trend to say the most outrageous thing you can imagine for attention but that's not what we do here. Glad most are posting better. Thanks!

If I may assist, I believe you are getting "progressive" thinking with "relationship" thinking. I realize you are reading my post in isolation from my other posts. I am not saying in any way that Napier IS in trouble, that Stricklin is getting in the way, so Stricklin HAS to be fired sometime next year to get prepared for Napier's ultimate demise. What I am plainly saying is that SS hired Mullen and he "enabled" Mike White to proceed without "encouraging" him to get more seasoned help. Mike was determined to do it his way. If he wasn't enabled then Mike would have left a year or two earlier. He is now on the books for Napier and the open wallet. Yes, he has had "help" in that regard, but I seriously doubt that Napier was the coach he was forced to hire (like Chip Kelly would have been). He IS in a relationship with Napier.

Gone Napier means gone Stricklin. It IS the way it works. It just does not mean next year or in the middle of 2025.

My main point was quite clear... Families of recruits read these message boards, and all that negative talk is detrimental to our ultimate cause.

So, we should not actually talk in what is plausible? I get the over-the-top rhetoric when things go awry (even by a little bit), but if you think the only thing that matters is unicorns and rainbows, then we just don't think alike. It is what it is.

Major college football IS a contact sport and if you think we are eating ourselves instead of what "the other side" is doing behind the scenes, well I have to call you trending towards naivety. Not a game for the soft.

I frown on talking about that possibility of a new coach right now, especially after less than 2 years on the job. That is unmitigated panic and way over the top at this point in time. I refuse to entertain that train of thought.

Thank you it will Ron Zook. But his defenses were very aggressive. Had players that knew how to play. I remember the commentators are talking about Bates's defenses and how they were bend But don't break.

It’s possible to build a great team from the ground up without buying experience via the portal. But it takes longer. It’s also potentially more sustainable than constantly chasing guys with only 1 or 2 years of eligibility — and throwing absurd amounts of money at them that exceeds what your locker room is making.

This may well be the Napier approach to building a team out of a 10 year old ash pile. Biggest problem with that approach is it’s not for impatient fans like us. But it’ll likely work and last if we can only give him the time he needs to turn the corner.

I’ve been mocked on this board for voicing my displeasure because Florida hired a guy from the Sunbelt while our rivals go after big name coaches. Looking at that post I feel somewhat vindicated. The numbers don’t lie, especially the ones on the scoreboard.

You don't have to chase guys with 1 or 2 yrs. of eligibility as FSU added players like Travis, Benson, and Verse all that had more than 2 yrs. of eligibility to play for them. We just need to add difference makers and it doesn't matter if it is the portal or high school but it is up to the coach to fill out the roster each year so that he can win games. So far our roster has glaring problems especially at linebacker, offensive line, and edge rushers that were not addressed this year.

Brian Kelly has a better team than us right now because he inherited a better team. And they’re far from world-beaters in year 2, just better than us. UF was a total teardown and rebuild — LSU was 2 years off a national championship when Kelly jumped on board. Given the mess Napier inherited, it’s unlikely we’d be any better right now under Kelly than we are under CBN. If you’re pitching a case that we should have hired Kelly instead of Napier you deserve to be mocked.

False. Ignorant statement. LSU was 2 years off winning a national championship when they fired O and hired Kelly. In contrast, UF had been irrelevant for 10 years when Napier took the wheel.

    Stupid post. Another stupid post.

Tennessee, LSU and UF were all dumpster fires when each last changed coaches. UT showed immediate forward movement and IMHO CJH is the guy that will turn UT around LT.

All signs at this point (save for recruiting) suggest failure is probable for Napier. IMHO the vast majority of CEO's of major corporations would have been fired by this point.
