Europe’s Biggest 'Supervolcano' Is Nearing a Possible Eruption, Experts Warn

Anyone whom follows Volcano's know this caldera is in a BADDDDD spot for Humans. According to local authorities evacuation would be a disaster in and of itself and many people would never be able to get out.

Not to mention that if this thing is in the VI 7 or 8 range it would have severe ramifications for humans, not just in Europe, but for the entire planet.

I missed this thread and posted separately. My apologies. I’m sure they’ll be merged.

It would probably be an act of mercy if it blows.

    We’ve had a good run.

Is there anyway to release some of the pressure that is building up without triggering a major eruption?

Let’s hope it doesn’t blow but the bright side is it would help cool the planet..

I think I read something a few years ago that scientists wanted to drill around the caldera to take readings (not to release pressure LOL) but that Italian officials were scared it would cause an eruption.

    See? There are morons everywhere

I am no volcano expert by any means, but I can't imagine the pressure is the same over the whole area.

With the Med. Sea being right there could you not bore a pressure relief shaft under the sea that would let some pressure off that was underwater and would keep the massive release of ash into the air?

Lol.. I never worry about these sorts of possibilities, things I cannot control, until it happens.

But that you for the heads up.;)
