I mean we got Torrence because he followed Napier. Great get but unique circumstances. I like what the Baylor guard has done for us this year. Who has got good tackles out of the portal though? Who lets good tackles leave? Certainly not bama (looking at you, george)

Interesting, one of our Juco OL transfers ( Herman) we recently brought here is transferring. Guess not a great eval.

I'm a little worried about Carrol. I believe he has had two knee injuries.

Only one incoming FR on the OL? Don't like that. Going to have to succeed in Portal Kombat.

remember we whiffed on the San Diego State OT, Josh Simmons. We dragged our feet and Ohio State swooped in, got him on campus, and got him committed before we could even get him on campus.

He playing well? I don’t remember him. I remember the guy from Rhode Island but I think he was a guard

I just think it’s interesting that we just had him transfer to us and this was part of one of Billy’s evaluation that took so long

well was there a ton of tackles available in the portal?
I think it goes without saying he’s gonna have to jump on the portal this year. He will want to leave PT for his incoming class but certain positions need to be pounced on. Need a tackle (preferably two), need a Pearsall replacement. Need a starting LB. Secondary help would be nice. There are 4-5 positions that have to be pounced on if it’s a right fit.

Agree with everything you said. As far as the incoming class, the only guys I see playing immediately would be Graham getting some time at Linebacker, and McCray not many freshmen are going to contribute next year. That’s why we have to hit the portal.

In speaking of the OL, what can’t go unmentioned is we did lose Goodwin before the season even started so that hurt us at RT since I believe it was gonna be him vs Waites (had Waites not gotten hurt himself) for the starting spot

We have like 14 true freshman making valuable contributions atm. Why would a higher ranked class only yield 1-2 contributors?

    Because:
    1. 18 year olds are very different than 20-22 year olds. Research shows that most 18 year olds do not come in and start and make an impact. If they do start it’s more of an indication of the state of the program as far as the shape the program is in. This is why the portal is so important.

    2. Of the 14, I’d say 6-7, which ones are changing games and making us win games? Again, portal is where Billy needs to get better.

    3. Of this higher ranked class didn’t we lose a player yesterday ranked 5 star and top 25 in the country? What’s to say we keep other guys like Amaris and Johnson? What is we lose our last 2 and finish with a 5 game losing streak with no bowl?

Good points but Bobby but didn’t Goodwin only play like 40-50 snaps his Freshman year for a UK team with an awful line? If that’s the case, I think we were expecting much more this year than he would have been able to deliver, possibly

I remember a couple of games ago, listening to Shane and Sean on the radio, and in the middle Shane commented that Waites had just played that drive, a scoring drive, all the way at RT and Shane had specifically watched him and was impressed.
