Mind boggling. And it should be the opposite.

And yet we see other programs turn it around much quicker.

Really hard hitting has largely been legislated out of the game on defense. I am hard pressed to think of a defense that strikes fear into receivers today. Georgia is loaded with top notch recruits on defense and they hit hard, tackle well and compete most every play. But I think the days of fear are gone.

We don’t tackle well, we rarely hit hard and many don’t compete every play on defense. We need a culture shift, attitude adjustment, whatever you want to call it on defense. Kirby and Saban demand it, but they do have the luxury of much more depth. You don’t play their way, then you’re benched and they have someone on the bench who is just as good. We can’t do that with our talent level, although sometimes I think I’d rather have an effort player than a really talented half ass player.

    But they don't have...The Process™.

The process is a mirage. There isn't time to develop players any more. You have to have plug and play beasts who aren't still making the same sloppy, undisciplined mistakes after two years. We ain't getting them and if we don't get serious about competing for them, nothing is ever going to change.

We have played bad defense for years. Under different coordinators. What is the common denominator????
    Figure it out

Talent no doubt, but we cannot ignore the possibility that we simply do not have the right man in charge. And that also includes Stricklin.

Enough talent to beat Mizzou? Yes.

Had an offense that could have scored 42, so thats promising

Arguably the best LB class in the country, if they stick coming, but as Freshman can't expect them to be dominant.

Need another couple of defensive lineman too and obviously portal help.

UF hasn't played decent defense since 2019. I agree with Shane Matthew's, the Gators issues are not on offense.

We all new this stretch would be rough.
Hope Napier keeps the locker room together, Saban ain't available and the great Dion is 1 - 6 in his last 7. Wait until his kid graduates.

We all want success, but I'm with Wingtee, run off the staff and we are back to nowhere.

I also value Bobby's posts and could not agree more about the Portal.

Next year the seat will get exceptionally warm and the "talent" excuse will be worn out.

We need to keep the yelling at low decibels, UF must secure this class and do a better job in the portal.

Given next years schedule I do not expect a Norvell turnaround but I do expect a winning season and low tier bowl. I doubt coach survives if this level of play, horrible defense, coaching mistakes and ST's errors continue.

Don't forget angry fans venting on bulletin boards. The famous last line of defense against "We just suck."

I love their fight. We keep the team together and fill in some necessary pieces from the portal and we could be tough next year. Just need a few experienced players.

This is a bit over-the-top. I know it feels like nothing sound is in play and it is mainly a game of "who can play 'Chinese Fire Drill' the best." I would prefer to say that, a plan is necessary and faithful production towards its goal is sacrosanct, but when you are in a storm and waves are crashing over the railings and water is filling up the bilges, if you don't acknowledge that you need to remediate instead of build, you are mainly oblivious. And that is NOT a wise strategy.

Missouri is better than LSU on defense. Brady Cook is not Jayden Daniels, but he's still very good and they destroyed Tennessee. Not very optimistic about our chances.

And then some. Shrader a monster at running back. We slow him down and we’ve got a chance.

Here’s my question: our running attack last night was better than it has been all year. Will Billy try to pound it against Mizzou? Will Etienne run that hard? Best I’ve seen our running backs run. Running is the only chance we have to beat Mizzou. Gotta shorten the game and keep our defense on the sidelines.

Like Colorado that everyone was saying earlier in the season? Like Tennessee, USC and TCU this year?

Arkansas is about to fire their coach prematurely because they think they should be more competitive in the SEC. Should they be? They are in the same tier as South Carolina and Kentucky…which is also where we are at right now. Rebuilding the entire program takes time. Napier had to rebuild the entire student experience, culture and talent base. Not saying he’s going to be able to do it, but I think you’re off with your early expectations.

Norvell was 3-6 Year 1 and 5-7 at FSU in year 2 with a loss to FCS Jacksonville State. Granted they are in the ACC and it’s not as hard to win in that league, but it shows that patience can pay off.

I am bc either being optimistic or pessimistic, won’t change the score

These young men want to win so I am with them.

SOS when the team won, the toss would want the ball first. That is the essence of a changed culture.

don’t defer, especially if the history shows the second half is nothing more than three and out.

I will tell you that the game thread is not very pleasant. First time chiming in, last time.

I actually am optimistic, IF we run the ball like we did last night. Again, can’t get in a track meet.

IMO, their offense is on auto-pilot. It is going to take a couple of wrinkles (probably in desperation) and them to be too full of themselves to react to them to affect the game with our defense. It feels like a shootout game - and Napier has to call it that way for the entire game - or it is again a "noble loss", a la LSU.
