I can't in good conscious defend AA at this point, but sometimes when literally nothing you do is working, you lose the plot. He's human, has to be frustrating and I bet no one is questioning his position more than he is right now.

I have never once before seen our defensive lineman freeze still... once they hit and engaged their counterparts on the offensive line like they do right now... no twists... no swim moves... no nothing... to try and get a way from the holds from the O-lineman.

I would focus on that if I were Napier... It's almost on purpose that we are NOT teaching the right techniques to our D-lineman... we are not teaching them what to do when they are being held. Even our DBs are freezing at first contact with their counterparts.

Once their receivers hold our DBs they freeze and do nothing to try and get away from their holding.

    That is all coaching.

Yes and a leopard doesn’t change his spots, especially in one week. We can hope but realistically, it’s doubtful.

I’m still chapped about guys smiling and fraternizing with the LSU players in the last 5 minutes. After the game..maybe…getting your ass beat in game that’s a very hard no.
Say what you want but I’m gonna bet you can’t find many videos of michael jordan, Kobe or Tom Brady teams getting run over and then asking for autographs from the opposing teams during the game. Tebow cried when he lost because it hurt so bad..not sure our current guys have a leader with that passion anywhere.

I hate to say it but players are getting too comfortable with getting beat. That is never good…

Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser…Vince Lombardi.

Completely agree! However, this is big league ball and there simply is not room (or time) for a shoulder to cry on.

How many teams have looked silly against the LSU offense this year?

    Total yards:
    459 vs FSU
    533 vs Mizzu
    637 vs Ole Miss
    478 vs Bans

We are not on any of those teams level. It is talent.

What is the DL, LB, and Secondary coaches doing then? I would expect them to be teaching them tackling.

Now if it is not a talent issue which person on Defense would start for Georgia, Alabama, or even LSU?

I think it is abundantly clear that is not the approach the program has taken, whether good or bad or indifferent.

This is true and it’s gut wrenching. But, he was highly touted and BN believed in him and I assume he makes decent money. If I’m a salesman and I sell nothing, I’m out and someone is always looking over the fence to take my place.
Personally, I don’t feel too sorry for coaches that make more $$ in a year than most people make in a lifetime and often at back breaking jobs.

interestingly 3 of those teams won, 2 convincingly, and the fourth came pretty close .. not sure what that means but it kinda jumped out at me

Listening to Coach on the radio (paraphrasing):

We had our chances. We had our chances.

We were emotionally and physically ready. We were competing right away.

Made a lot of plays but missed a lot of opportunities.

It's hard to slow LSU down. We didn't slow them down enough.

Their QB is a fantastic player and his legs were the difference tonight.

There was no lack of effort. There are no moral victories but he wanted to complement the kids' and the competitive spirit they showed.

We tried lots of different things on defense and we had our chances.

Didn't expect anything less of the kids though. They were ready to compete. LSU stopped us a little but we couldn't stop them.

    We'll find and put up the post-game press conference . . .

This is just being pedantic. People are obviously talking about coaching the guys we have. We all agree we don't have the dudes and it would've been good if we got better dudes.

I've noticed that over the last two years. Our guys look like they have velcro attached to their uniforms. They stick to the offensive linemen just as soon as they engage. We are a bad combination of young, slow, and weak. With all the talent in the state, I can't believe we can't field a reasonably competitive defense. Tonight's performance didn't give a good feeling that it is going to change anytime soon.

Billy is obviously not cut out to be an SEC playcaller, and overwhelmed as a HC/CEO given that he has no answers for our ongoing special teams issues and our disorganization.

And he then outsources the defense to a guy with no experience.

    Result…….not good.
