DeSantis' key appeal (recently echoed by Reynolds) is that Trump cannot win the general. I suspect that's a tougher sell when Republican voters are hearing so many (on both the left and right) saying that Biden cannot win regardless of his general election opponent.

Yep. She obviously calculated for whatever reason that she did not need to go to Trump route, even if he proved to be the nominee. Obviously I don't know the particulars of her situation. I know she held out for a long time even though she hinted she was behind DeSantis in many ways. Interesting study that I'd be curious to know what exactly went behind the calculations

a little old but I missed this. The pub SOH in Florida, Randy Fine, endorsed Trump and blistered DeSantis in the process

Florida House Speaker defends DeSantis as top Jewish Republican flips to Trump (nypost.com)

State Rep. Randy Fine, who once helped chair DeSantis’ Jewish outreach efforts, turned against the governor in a blistering op-ed, contending that Trump was a stronger friend to Jewish Americans.

“I got jumped by a Nazi in Florida. On video. Two weeks ago. In Ron DeSantis’ Florida, that’s no big deal,” Fine wrote in the Washington Times.

“Every piece of legislation you hear him talk about regarding Jewish issues is one I wrote,” Fine added of the governor. “I love his words. His actions have broken my heart.”
    ...........................
“In 2020, I had an open anti-Semite run against me; she called me a ‘pest’ who should be ‘exterminated,'” Fine recalled. “So many Republican leaders came to my defense; Governor DeSantis did not. He didn’t even endorse me.”

Keep in mind that the political appointee chairing the Florida Board of Governors, Brian Lamb, used to be the Head of DEI at J.P. Morgan and was leading the state's efforts to expand DEI at public universities in the aftermath of George Floyd's murder, until it became unpopular with the reactionary clowns on the right.

Now, the Florida Board of Governors is writing unhinged regulations targeting "DEI" in the state's university. It just shows how full of shit DeSantis and his crew of arseholes are.

So egregious the judges panel required the court to enter a not guilty verdict...villages commissioner targeted and ruined for daring to challenge desi and the gang is cleared of all charges. Someone should go to jail for the way this man was treated

    MSN

A Florida county commissioner ousted by governor and 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, was exonerated Thursday after being sentenced to three years of probation and community service, and serving 75 days in jail, The Intercept reports.

"He lost everything," Oren Miller's wife Angie Fox said, according to the report. "They took his job away. He had to go to jail. He had to pay for all the expenses and everything. Where we go from here, I don't know. Right now we're just trying to settle down from the news."
    ......................................................
A panel of judges pointed out "the absurdity" of Miller's charge, and furthermore, The Intercept notes, "The case is shot through with ironies, principally that the prosecutors used an anti-corruption law to prosecute a commissioner who was challenging corruption. In a further irony, the prosecution made obviously false statements while accusing Miller of perjury."

According to the report, "The court took the unusual step of not just vacating the previous conviction, but also instructing the lower court to insert a new verdict of 'not guilty.'"

A new outrage, although this one in the category of unintended consequences. The DeSantis administration wanted to promote private schools and the destruction of public schools. So they passed a rule that you can transfer at any time in the semester to another school with no limitations.

But there is a sports impact. I'll leave out names but there is at least one high school playoff game this week in which three star players from other schools transferred in this week and will be ready to play in this weekend's game. One of them was kicked off his former team for disciplinary reasons.

Can’t say as I’m not familiar with all of the circumstances but,,,

There’s a federal statue dealing with violation of a persons civil rights which a false arrest can be under certain circumstances.

    18USC242

I was taught this in the police academy in 1977. If I’m ever falsely charged with a crime I will attempt to use it once the facts come out.

Makes sense to me. Could you, possibly support me in my push to enact legislation that requires everyone in Florida to change their underpants every day and to wear their underpants on the outside so that we can check? Thanks.
