He wasn’t doing much all night as far as creating or finishing goes. I think he had two plays off the top of my head. Bad night for him.
Sure. This would have been a nice win in the resume. And it isn't like the win wasn't within our grasp. Nobody cares how close the game was. In the end, it's an L on the resume come March. I am somewhat encourage. If we could somehow get the lazy passes out of our repertoire, we could be pretty good. Also, don't want to put this all on Clayton. Kugel stunk up the joint in the first half and the refs killed us with two bad calls on Micah. Beat the Nolies!
Lots of positives. When we get Pullin back, turn down the turnovers, and turn up the 3-point shooting, this is going to be a good team. 5 Gators in double digits scoring, with Handlogten and Samuel each getting a double double.
16 turnovers to their 6, plus Clayton had a terrible game. 2-10 from the field, 0-5 shooting 3's, 5 turnovers and missed a key free throw at the end. Kugel is a scorer, but not a shooter. He got out of control way too often and was left with just slinging it up. I am VERY impressed with the much-improved rebounding over last year. We outrebounded them 47-30, 21 offensive rebounds to their 6. We did a poor job much of the game defending the 3 point line and just couldn't handle Buchanan. Their star outplayed our star and their bench was better than our bench, outscoring us 26-4. Yet we only lost by 3 and had a chance to win it at the end. Learn from it and move on. Goooo Gators!
Virginia is a solid team, and Florida battled back to make it a last second game. Made some self inflected errors in addition to some nice shooting by the Hoos. It happens.
In the end, this is the slap in the face this team needed. It’s November, plenty of film and time to correct
Honest question-yes I like to read both-negatives and positives-you stated all your negatives-would truly like to see what positive you saw- I am not a snarky kind of person
UVA is about as well coached a team as you will play. I am OK with the result considering the turnovers.
A huge positive was offensive rebounds. 21! To their 9. Limit the turnovers, make a few 3s and this was easily winnable. After -10 on turnovers and about -10 on 3 attempts, it still was. Those are all positives
Clayton is much better than he has played, and a super competitive kid. This will eat at hm. He will come back better.
I think the guy who was covering Clayton was the ACC defensive POY last season, so I am going to give him a little bit of a break. https://www.si.com/college/virginia...eekman-named-acc-defensive-player-of-the-year
I expected to see Condon after Micah fouled out, but he also had a rough game. You expect great UVA defense, but steals were 15-4. Will be glad when Pullin returns against F$U.
