Agreed. That starting unit was phenomenal. Scoring, passing, rebounding, defense—everything. Getting Pullin back will help. And hopefully Condon and Haugh get more confident. Virginia is very physical down low.
I hate to say this but UVa looks to be in a little better shape than us right now. Either that or we are just being lazy on defense. Sometimes we only seem to have 3 or 4 people hustling and it takes all 5. I think we will improve as the season goes along. Again I really like this team and hope he has a deep bench to keep everyone fresh.
I know we are trailing but it's great to finally get to see this group in action, I was unable to watch game 1.
Legend has it that Washington and Lee baseball fans dubbed the Virginia players “Wahoos” during the fiercely contested rivalry that existed between the two in-state schools in the 1890s. By 1940, “Wahoos” was in general use around Grounds to denote University students or events relating to them.
I don’t think it’s a conditioning thing. My guy Clayton is getting abused on the defensive end. He’s got to lock in. Riley isn’t scoring. Those two things change and we go up by 10. We have exceptional passing inside, but they are also risky and UVa picked off more than a few of them. Need to stop telegraphing them. If we don’t make those adjustments, we lose.
Kugel has to realize we aren't playing Loyola anymore. A pull up J is fine. He can get that any time he wants.
