ACC refs stepped in and protected L'Ville there in the 4th quarter.

Gotta feel for UVA, they'll be much better next year.

I work airspace for launches at the cape and sadly get to watch nearly all of them on a small TV in a windowless room. The sonic boom was really loud and I was figuring out airspace release times when it happened. It REALLY gets your attention!

I tuned in at the start of the last qtr. Super effort by a 2-7 Virginia team.
The officiating didn’t look good, two big penalties, (back to back), against Va Tech were called, then after a discussion on the field by referees called off. An obvious pass interference, or at least a holding call on Virginia wide receiver by Louisville turned out to be a no-call on UV’s last drive. Then it occurred to me, (l’m a bit slow) these are ACC refs.
    Heaven help us.

Hoos is short for Wahoos, a common nickname for UVA teams and students. Origin dates back to the 1800s, it has nothing to do with the fish.

Its kinda like the Tigers/War Eagles/Plainsmen of Auburn. There is no logic involved. They also share the same school colors.

Thanks... I figured that after you explained the Hoos thing. And don't forget about Ole Miss - the rebels and the land-sharks, lol.

Well, that's not all (I think). I spent some time in Richmond years ago, and was struck by the way a native there would refer to his house as his "hoos." Of course he may have just been mentally loos.

I really hope Perris jones is ok. Running backs need to stop lowering their helmets like that.

This. The Hoo/Wahoo nickname came about bc another school in the state, Washington & Lee, called UVAs baseball players Wahoos when they played in the 1890s. UVA students embraced it and shortened it to Hoos later.

Perris had movement in all extremities and UVA coach said news from hospital was encouraging. Let's all hope he continues to recover, that was an ugly collision.

Thank you for posting this update, @murphree_hall - I heard the news just before hitting the sack last night and was VERY relieved!

    A bit more about Jones.....

A sixth year running back from Alexandria, Virginia, Jones originally walked on to the UVA football team and earned the starting tailback job ahead of the 2022 season. Jones has appeared in 51 games over the course of his career, including 15 starts. This season, Jones has 393 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

My niece goes to UVA so I watch them a lot this year. That’s a team that has gotten much better over the season. They could have at least three more early-season wins. Even with a bad record, there’s a lot to be hopeful for with them.
