Eight former residents of a youth treatment center that was run by an Arkansas man whose bribery conviction was commuted by Donald Trump have filed a lawsuit claiming they were victims of “systematic and widespread” abuse at the now-shuttered facility.

Attorneys for the former residents of "The Lord’s Ranch" said the lawsuit was the first of several to be filed in the coming weeks alleging abuse at the facility that closed in 2016 after owner Ted Suhl was convicted in a federal bribery scheme. Suhl’s conviction was commuted by Trump in 2019.

“Men and women who owned, operated, and staffed the facility preyed on and abused the children housed on the remote facility in Warm Springs, Arkansas, routinely and systematically,” the lawsuit filed on Monday in federal court said.

The lawsuit against Suhl and others claims the unnamed residents were victims of repeated sexual abuse and rape by an employee of the facility, describing the abuse in graphic detail. The employee, who is named as a defendant in the lawsuit, had not been charged by police with abuse. An attorney who represented Suhl in his bribery case did not immediately respond to a message on Tuesday.

Pardoned by Trump at Mike Huckabee's request. Nice call!

Pedophiles of any stripe are despicable. Even more so are those that use the guise of religion to gain access and trust in order to abuse their victims. If convicted, this POS should never see the light of day again.

His sentence was commuted, he wasn't pardoned. There is a difference, your headline is incorrect.

Regardless of the minor difference there, Trump let him out of prison ...

Whenever you hear these types of stories they tend to take place in very specific settings.

I am not defending this guy or the pardon/commuting of his sentence. But as far as the story goes. This guy was found guilty of bribery. It was an employee that is at the center of the abuse based on the article. Now if this guy knew what was going on then throw him in jail and lose the key. But this is the type of thing the OP does. Take things and apply headline wording to create a false narrative.

All that said...the guy pardoned probably did not deserve it. And I do not know anything about the bribery case he was convicted in.

The real tragedy is that kids were abused by someone. But here we are..."trump"

    Sigh!

Did you even bother to look at the commutation?
He was convicted for a 7-year sentence for bribery and Trump commuted it to time served. He had served 3 years at that point. I know orange man bad!!

Yeah, he only engaged in a little bribery of state officials. That sort of thing means that you can still be a pillar of your community. Not like he took pictures without his shirt on.

    You know better!!
He was convicted of a crime and served 3 of the 7 years and Trump comutated the sentence. A far cry from what the op was trying to make it look. As far as him being a pillar of the community do you not believe that the community knew of his crime, conviction and time served? They are the ones that just let him roll on with his youth center.

I think the OP's point is that Trump commuted the sentence of guy that NOT ONLY committed federal level bribery felonies, but also is now accused of looking the other way while his staff repeatedly sexually abused children at his Jesus Ranch.

I’m sooo glad I don’t blindly follow a corrupt leader and defend everything he does. Imagine being ensconced in the world of trumps
