Stationed in NOLA from 1998-2002. Got to sing in the “Hero’s Chorus” during the pregame show for Superbowl XXXVI. Two of my three kids born there!

The National World War II Museum in New Orleans. They have a scale model of my dad‘s bombing target on D-Day.

The exhibits in the museum expansions have been built by my brother’s stepson. Great museum if you get a chance to visit it.

Been to JP's many times. It's a must when we head to the beach house.

Preservation Hall Jazz is one of the coolest experiences in New Orleans.
Hot, sweaty room the size of a small pool hall.
No mics, no speakers, no electronics.
Just sitting on a bench, listening to a very talented live jazz band playing a lot of local flavors.
Gotta try it at least once.

You know, Marine, that the secret to that sandwich is the bread. Anyone can buy those cold cuts, and that olive salad, and do the same. But they can't get the bread. It is the same with Po Boys. You can't find a Po Boy worth eating outside of Nawlins and the Mississippi gulf coast, imo. My wife was from Pascagoula and she told me about the bread. There is a name for it, which I cannot remember. It's only there. So many restaurants around the country have tried to make Po-Boys or Muffulettas, and always fail, for that reason.

And if you ever end up in Pascagoula, and want the world's best shrimp or oyster Po-Boy, go to this half seafood market/half restaurant dive called Bozos. Get them dressed. You will thank me later.

Leidenheimer is the poboy bread in nola. Poboys elsewhere without it are not worth ordering imo
