In what should be a great top ten SEC matchup, I will be pulling for Ole Miss to finally stop this UGA win streak. Not only that, but this game could give us a glimpse into how a future coaching candidate might do vs our arch enemy. I really think he checks a lot of boxes and it will be great to see how he prepares for this one

I know a lot of people here don’t like him but around the SEC a lot of people didn’t like Spurrier or whomever but if he is your coach you probably love them. I personally think he is a good coach that even now still has some upside. If and when there is another Gators coach I’d much prefer it be an SEC HC that has his team in the top 10 often rather than another ULL/CSU/San Francisco/Louisiana Tech/Directional School/Sunbelt/WAC/ect guy.

Good news is they already have a road win at Auburn. I know Auburn isn't good, but Jordan-Hare is always a loud, tough place to play. I don't think the loud environment will be a shock.

Biggest game for Ole Miss since I've been in Oxford. If they win, I don't actually know if folks around here will know what to do with themselves. I think you'd have to go back to the early 60s to find a late season game with this much at stake.

I want them to both lose and hope neither are ever considered as a gator coach.

Sooner or later, Georgia is going to lose.

    Might as well be sooner.

Thou shalt not speak of Steve Spurrier and Lane Kiffen the same sentence. To compare them simply because both are/were cocky reveals ignorance of Spurrier’s greatness and uniqueness.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of why there is a difference. Spurrier was hated because he was regularly whipping your favorite team's behind. Kiffin is hated because he is a first-class douchebag.

Don’t get it twisted, I was in no way trying to equate the two but many here make the mistake of viewing Spurrier through the eyes of a present day Gator fan and to us he never did any wrong. I lived in Alabama during his rein and thirty years ago our opponents viewed him much differently. They said he was brash, cocky, ungentlemanly, said disrespectful things about his opponents, ran up the score to embarrass teams, didn’t dress appropriately for SEC football and more. While there is no comparison of the character of these two men also the goalposts for douchebaggery have moved significantly in thirty years. Make no mistake, Lane has done and said things that I personally do not approve of but do not doubt that in the eyes of conservative SEC fans thirty plus years ago they thought Spurrier was a first class douchebag at the time.

Having said all that, every one of them that I still know have significantly softened their stance on him and I think view him positively today.

They were blinded by the hate they felt because of him whipping their team's behind. Now that he is retired and not whipping their team's behind anymore, they have changed their attitude. He is the same straight-shooting, humorous guy he was 25 years ago. Kiffin deludes himself by thinking that he is a more up-to-date Spurrier-esque character. He is not....his teams aren't doing that much regular whipping and everyone still thinks he is a douche.

In Kiffin’s younger years he was not a very good person. He would do most anything to climb the ladder of success and exhibited bad behavior while climbing that ladder.
I think being dumped by Southern Cal was the 2nd best thing that ever happened to him. The best thing was working for Saban. Both were humbling experiences and made a better man out of Kiffin. His ability to coach has improved too.
Wether or not he can beat The Evil Empire Saturday is another story. I’m pulling for Ole Miss, but I wouldn’t bet the farm on it.
