agreed. It’s weird because you can CLEARLY see high potential everywhere on the field outside of OL, we’re just inconsistent. Like Saturday, both sides at the ball played well at times, it’s just both never at the same time lol.

I think another underrated thing that has to happen is hitting the portal for DT’s too. Only have one committed in Nasir Johnson (UGA and FSU hot on his tail) and we only brought in one true DT this past cycle in Will Norman who’s redshirting. Then again if all of them come back, we should have the bodies I think:

    Cam
    Caleb
    Dez
    McClellon
    Lyons
    Norman
    Johnson

yea that’s enough. They just have to take the next step as a whole.

That's the thing, even UGA gets portal players and they land the top class nearly every year. So, yes, O-lineman in particular are a hit and miss type of player which means we have to find some help in the portal.

The great big-uglies and the big-nasties are hard to find in the portal. But if we keep signing top 3 recruiting classes.... We'll be okay, for the most part.

These top classes will go a long way for our future teams... but we will always need a few portal guys every year. That will never change.

Having elite guys coming off the edge changes things too. Princely is a good player but we need someone on the other side that is fast,

Few is the key. The good teams aren’t taking 6-10 portal guys. We have lots of needs but holy in a couple years, it’s 1-4 portals and new hs kids coming. Fsu is probably going to make tge playoffs but they are nowhere near the pipeline that’s going on at the top schools. I bet the puppies crush them too.

Irrational expectations? HUH? I think its rational to expect a program of this level to have consistent play and coaching at..I dont know..special teams. Who calls him "Napes"? Seems rude to me.

Personally, he seems like a decent, great person. I really hope it works for him (and us). Could also use a little less preach-y press conference soundbites. That said, my thought process doesn't hedge bets on "hope." As in "hoping" next year recruiting class really will be the savior. Anyone seen that schedule? it's insane. Easily could be same record next year.

I agree. He can do that as soon as he has 12 consecutive 10 win seasons and 2 natties. Until then part of his job is to convince us, both in word AND action, that we have the right guy leading this team.

I've never wanted a coach to be successful more than I want him to be because of his character. But it is starting to have the feel of the 3 "M" coaches that preceeded him. He's just not an asshole like the last guys were.

If his bosses are ok with him telling fans to suck it, so am I. I just don’t give the big money to fund it so I can’t give permission.

I don’t get your point. If you think you can have the youngest football team in college and these guys just step in from high school and know how to play SEC football at a high-level you are surely mistaking. It takes reps. You were seeing it this year with Shamar James. You will see it next year with all the young ones playing tons of reps this year. It’s not hard to understand being the youngest team in the country, playing one of the toughest schedules in the country, in the toughest conference in the country, the results will be inconsistency.

inconsistency and injuries (need a new S&C coach asap) have killed us. Hopefully our current talent grows and our coaching on game day grows with it.

good thing is, you DO see things from our underclassmen that can be tied directly to inexperience.

The administration recognized the need to transform from college football to College Football, Inc., and brought in CBN to manage that transition. The test of how that is going will be the next two recruiting classes. If he pulls in top five classes, he stays and we will see the results on the field. If he does not, the search for someone that will bring in top five classes will begin. It may be less fun, but until a school consistently recruits top five talent, they are not going to be winning championships. Look at the list compiled by the OP and compare it to recruiting class rankings.
