Maybe you truly are in the "people prefer to use a less effective tool, even at risk of life and limb" crowd. Makes you wonder why there aren't more mass murders using butter knives. Regardless, in the last decade semi-automatic rifles were used in 44% of mass shootings with a 2x fatality rate. Assault rifles are used in 85% of shootings that result in 4+ deaths. I guess it's up to you to decide what the weapon of choice is for "killing lots of people". Would you advocate banning handguns first if our goal is to minimize deaths by mass shooters? Or to minimize the number of mass shooting events?
I don’t advocate banning any gun. That’s the issue. Everyone wants to focus on the AR15… for now. And if it is banned the masss murders will continue with the 9mm. And then the cry will be for the 9mm ..a weapon of war no less… should be banned. And then semi auto shotguns… who needs five rounds of buckshot… shotguns are used in war… etc.. It’s disingenuous to think banning the ar15 does anything. And the rhetoric that it is the choice of mass murders, a weapon of war, an assault rifle… is nothing more than an appeal the emotions instead of logic.
Provide data backing up your original claims. I didn’t point to the number of guns in the US. I pointed to the number of gun owners. (Legal) the vast majority of which are responsible, contributing citizens. Im not against background checks. I’m not against mandatory safety training. But that’s not what is happening. The hue and cry is for banning ar15. Or banning all guns. Some are all for confiscating all guns. That’s the issue. One side wants to use emotion to push the envelope as far as possible. The other side digs in and refuses to give an inch in fear of the mile that will be taken.

According to the article, it seems that the document or portions of it have been leaked. Neither the police nor the FBI are commenting because the issue is still being addressed in the courts. My recollection is that some of the victims' families opposed it, for example.
According to Fox it's the police department that didn't want to release it. Just weird. The Fox News article you posted says Nashville Police has been fighting in court but also says "and so has a group of parents from the school." I thought I had previously read something about victims' families opposing the release, but perhaps it was just parents of kids who go to school there and were not necessarily victims. Either way, it seems undisputed that there's been a legal fight about it, and that at least explains why it hasn't come out sooner. Also not clear to me if the entire document has been leaked or only part of it.

I don’t see why not hypothetically but not sure if such official determinations are made when shooters are dead and there won’t be criminal charges.
I think we all know if the shooter was a white supremist and killed black children that manifesto would've been leaked with 48 hours and the MSM would've setup shop in Nashville until it was put out.
