Thanks man. I think we're all butthurt after yesterday LOL

Of course nobody predicted the level of success Billy D ended up achieving, but I do remember people were pretty excited about Pitino's former top assistant taking over. The Kentucky teams of the 90s were very successful and fun to watch.

I disagree, all programs that have the standards UF is setting are going to have the same drawbacks. However, outside of admission from the AD we will never truly know one way or the other.

So what successful P5 coach that would excite the UF fan base would leave their current position and come to UF? I’m just curious of peoples thoughts.

I must admit to being very conflicted.
I'm convinced that CBN is in over his head and should be replaced and the sooner the better. Losing this recruiting class would all but end his suffering.

I may get crushed for this one, but Harbaugh, if Michigan kicks him to the curb? At least the guy wants to win right? WHOLE different discussion if our administration would even consider him given recent events.

With this line, 500 in the sec is an accomplishment but many just expect it. Our lines of scrimmage aren’t just going to magically be sec quality with some scheming and weight lifting. Therese several guys getting snaps that probably can’t make the roster for several sec schools. You can plug and play , receivers, rbs, rushers and corners tgat just play man, but big boys take time and it’s not going to get better nearly as quick as many hope. We need several big boys tgat aren’t on the roster. It’ll take a minute.. I was hoping to see some guys with bright futures on the line but nope.

I asked this last year after the bowl game:

For most of the season, some of the most common reason's for hope was his system and upgrading talent to fit said system.

I know I'm not an optimistic person, but man it is really hard to get excited about the system that has been on display this year. On both sides of the ball for much the season and not even going to touch the clock management and get that stink on me.

I may be wrong, and it would be great to be wrong, but I simply do not see UF out talenting the top of the SEC. Top 10 recruiting class and how many SEC teams are ahead of UF?

So, if you can't out talent your opponent, and your system isn't a world beater, where is your advantage coming from?

There are some posts in this thread that are starting to ask the same question. Disconcerting to say the least that coming up on the end of year 2 and seemingly nothing has changed.

Urban is done and our administration wouldn’t touch him. He still isn’t on the ring of honor.

I don’t think Mullen wanted to stay so that’s a no.

Who else you got that UF would seriously consider, not who you want to be the coach.

OK, got another one, Kalen DeBoer. Washington's coach, 99-11 between Fresno State and UW. I think UW has a ceiling lower than UF, and it might even get lower with the move to the BIG 10.

Edit: The timing could also line up if we were to be looking for change in the next few years.

It’s a wasteland out there now for must have coaches, imho. There aren’t many coordinator’s who look to maybe have that “it” factor either. Not a good time to be shopping for a new guy at a potential upper tier P5 program, again imho. With that said, Dan Lanning & Kalen DeBoer both have their programs rolling, in just their 2nd year. Another guy in his 2nd year that has his team on the upswing is the Arizona coach. Jamey Chadwell has Liberty at 9-0 in his first season there, after being successful at Coastal Carolina.

Experience recruiting in the SE or coaching in the SEC?
