It was hard to keep track of what Gator was pitching but I think it was Fisher Jamison that had an OUTSTANDING change-up today. Lots of Hatters swinging early and over the top of it for strikes.

Gator catcher would have one leg stretched out and got low, but there is always a small area for a ball to get through. You can't totally block from that stance. As a former pitcher I would rather see a conventional "squat" where both knees can come together with the shins spayed out to totally block a ball in the dirt near the plate.

Maybe the deal was to start the nightcap (you have to be really old to get that) by a certain time because it is a school night.

#2 might still be 7 innings.

And with your yellowhammer it was really important.

Also really important with sinkers, running two seamers, and THROWING ACCURATELY!

Yeah, but a good yellowhammer curve very often finds dirt before it finds the catcher and over the plate but too low to be a strike.

Running two seamers/sinkers are a catcher's nightmare. They often find the dirt well off the plate. That is why as a pitcher that had a lot of run on my two seam sinker I would prefer a conventional squat. From there the catcher can move laterally. Splayed out behind the plate he can't.

From what I have seen the Gators don't have a pitcher with a lot of arm side motion and sink. Brady Singer as a frosh might have been our last one. After that he threw a few mph slower and was more effective pitching with more control.

At practices I've seen a few with good arm side motion and several with good sink but no one has both like you say.

FYI, catcher didn't have a shot a helping with a lot of these. They were truly WILD.
