But for a guy that preaches attention to detail the blunders we see shouldn’t still be happening half way into year 2.

Yeah okay. So at the time they were hired, Spurrier, Meyer and Billy D were as unproven as Napier, Mike White, Todd Golden, etc. Sure. Someone is choosing to be disingenuous today. Whatever.

This was a very Zook-like loss. Difference is talent & winning were more in abundance under Zook o_O.

That’s my issue with Billy’s losses. Outside of our losses to UGA the last two years, what other losses can we blamed on “lack of talent”?

Spurrier was unproven? He was the two-time ACC coach of the year and ACC champion at a school that hadn’t been to bowl since the 1960’s. His offenses broke numerous school and conference records for scoring, passing yards, and total yards. When he left they promptly retreated to obscurity. His resume is head and shoulders above anyone mentioned in this conversation.

Yesterday’s loss cannot be blamed on Dan Mullen or on our existing talent.

Yesterday’s loss was strictly Football 101. Napier simply does not have Football 101 down. When you are hired at a place like UF, this is expected.

Regardless of who we are playing a certain week or which players are on our roster, the head coach at the University of Florida is expected to master the following:

    Situational awareness
    Clock management
    Personnel decisions
    Use of timeouts
2 minute offense (procedure, not execution)
Having units ready to go on field without wasting time
Rules of the game and penalties that come with any and all scenarios and situations
Motivating a team regardless of opponent, record, time of day, etc.
    Discipline

A competent head coach is able to master all those things even if his roster is made up of 85 scrubs.

Billy Napier has horrendously failed at each and every one of those aspects.

We are not even talking about playcalling and how can we come up with a scheme to try to stay competitive with a superior opponent.
No, we are talking about Football 101. We are not talking about changing our playcalling to mask our defficiencies on the OL.

    We are talking FOOTBALL 101.

So the question becomes will Napier ever master Football 101 or must he assemble 85 5-star blue chippers on the roster in order to mask his glaring and obvious Football 101 defficiencies?

We’ve seen a lot of records fall the last decade or so.

    Good times.

Umm, even without Daniels, they are good enough to score 40 on us. Keep in mind, one road win in almost 3 years and it took a miracle in the final 5 minutes coming from 10 down to win. LSU isn't USCe.

I agree with you on the above list of items.

Three of items stood out very glaringly in the post game press conference.
I am referring to Situational Awareness, Personnel decisions, and having units ready to go. This happened when Napier was questioned on the illegal substitution. At that moment he had that deer in the headlights look. He did not outright blame the player who should not of gone out on the field. He struggled to come up with a good explanation. Basically, he admitted in a round about way, that his method of of getting personnel out on the field is flawed. As a head coach he failed to checked the boxes on those three items.

Agree. I didn't mean to imply that I thought we would win at LSU next week. But I don't think it'll be a blowout like UGA last week or UK earlier in the year.

Bringing in Lagway, McCray and the rest of the ‘24 class plus another one just like it cannot make up for those defficiencies.

Again the loss had nothing to do with Mullen or talent and everything to do with Napier. “The process” and its flaws lost the game yesterday. The process is flawed. Any talk of the process simply deflects attention and accountability away from Napier’s defficiencies as a coach.

We all fell for his antics when he spoke so much about the process. It gave us the false sense of security that he had Football 101 mastered and was going beyond being a football coach in order to build a sustainable program. It’s all a farce. He’s not even a C- student when it comes to Football 101.

    In my head--- UF
Spurrier: He was named the ACC Coach of the Year in both 1988 and 1989. His 1989 team won the ACC title, Duke's first since 1962.

    Unproven?

A better exercise would be to examine field available for hire back to 1/1/2010 and how they have performed. That is the pool, how many would we have considered and would we have churned through more than we have to dated.

If we are being objective our troubles lead back to the resign, return, do nothing, then muschamp era decision. We should have moved in at that point. Everything has snow balled lagging in facilities, diminishing talent, balanced classes, ascendency of other teams rinse and repeat.

Jeremy Foley was the best AD Florida ever had. UF was a great competitor in virtually every sport.
