Obama’s strategy was to address the Iran nuclear issue, which everyone at the time considered was the number one geopolitical threat. So they negotiated a treaty, which by and large did what it was supposed to do, but at the same time eased up sanctions and monetary constraints in Iran. It was a tradeoff.

One can debate whether it was a good deal or bad deal, but the policy was to address the most important geopolitical threat at the time.

 

Israel likes to make a big deal about how October 7th was like multiple 911's because of their smaller population. So far this year, prior to October 7th, Israel killed as many Palestinian civilians, per capita, as Israeli citizens died in the October 7th atrocities.

There isn't a good side in this conflict.

This is like the Ukraine thread. Quoting the IDF is pointless. You are going to hear a lot of propaganda. That is not to say this isn’t true, but the IDF knows they need to justify the brutality and this is one way of doing it. They do this knowing there is literally zero way for westerners to fact check this information. Hamas does this as well, except it’s directed towards their own people more than mass media.

 

Essentially, Obama’s tactic was to buy them off to *fingers crossed* address said threat. Which he should have known would never work, because Iran has never been driven by secular interests. Any funding or business they generate goes first towards destroying the Jewish state. The problem with the policy is it effectively allowed Iran to hijack legitimacy and further fund their terroristic goals. While at the same not doing anything to address the threat long term.

 

This is where I am. As you illustrated, I hope participants of this thread take note that propaganda comes from both sides.

Nonsense. You have consistently reported figures from Hamas sources. And, they are not the same.
