Tampa is a hot bed of GOP activity this week and it is rambunctious. The GOP rank and file have zero patience for any criticism for Trump. The believers are shouting down, booing, and heckling his opponents. The force is strong with that one. Christie, Hutchinson get a stormy reception at Florida voter summit A combative Chris Christie was loudly booed as soon as he took the stage and throughout his remarks at the Florida Freedom Summit in Kissimmee, as Trump maintains his dominance in the state amid a string of fresh endorsements. Before the former New Jersey governor had his time at the podium, Asa Hutchinson, the former governor of Arkansas, faced similar jeering when he evoked Trump’s legal troubles. Even Vivek Ramaswamy was heckled — the crowd chanting “Trump” — when he said the GOP needs a younger, non-traditional nominee. “You can yell and boo about it as much as you like, but it doesn’t change the truth. And the truth is coming. The truth is coming, and all of you need to understand: America needs better than what we’ve had. And it never makes America a better place, whether it’s on a college campus in an Ivy League or whether it’s in an auditorium in Orlando, for us to be booing and shouting down opinions we don’t agree with,” Christie said. The audience also heard from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who’s trailing the former president in national polls as Trump tries to weaken him in their shared home state. Ramaswamy and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott spoke after DeSantis, and Trump will finish the GOP cattle call as the event’s final speaker.
Another demonstration that the Republican Party has devolved from a normal center-right political party into a cult of personality centered around the worship of an extreme narcissist with a god complex.
My questions are what would the reelection of Trump say about this country, and would our democracy recover?
If I’m being completely honest, this country deserves to have Trump as its president. This is sadly who we are. Formerly great now Shit hole country.
The inability to see the obvious: neither Trump nor today's GOP have their or the country's best interests at heart. The powerful with bad intentions have always been able to hoodwink the common man. I don't say that arrogantly, but perplexed. The common man is neither stupid nor ill informed, but I'll be damned if I understand what attracts them to Trump, who possesses none of the traits we claim to value. Perhaps they are coward by his arrogance and money.
I think I understand......You speak out against Trump you get booed. Speak out against the current administration you get your home raided by the FBI.
Hitler was able to recruit loyal sycophants to help him consolidate power and become a tyrant. It's obvious from some on this site alone that Trump will be able to do the same.
I assume that your reference to the "raid" of a home by the FBI concerned the agency's execution of the search warrant of Mar-a-Lago issued by a federal judge based on a finding of probable cause that Trump was improperly concealing classified documents that he previously indicated that he had returned to the government and by the way Trump was notified in advance that the FBI would be executing the warrant so it wasn't exactly a surprise "raid". Any other examples of raids of the residences of Biden critics?
