Why when we are defending 3rd and 10..…do we give the opposing receivers a 10 yard cushion?

What amazes me is our coaches didn't see it???

 

Obviously they do or we have coaches that don't know what they are doing?

 

I keep going back to lesser teams playing our vanquishers tougher than we do.

 

Me too, I watched a bit of all the SEC games yesterday and I saw all teams playing hard. I don't see us doing that. The team looks like they are going through the motions flat footed and unemotional?

Maybe it's the Noon start? Last noon start (Kentucky) was pathetic.

 

It boggles my mind that no coach on this staff seems to ever be expected to get the best out of what they have. CB is arguably the most talented position group we have if you based it on recruiting rankings and the "best" position coach can't get above replacement level play out of them. Does he have all Americans? No. But these are not FCS bums either.

 

Anyone remember Corey Raymond ?

 

Yeah I brought him up in another post as he has over 50% of all the power5 coaching years on the entire staff. Combined 25 years P5 experience, or 12 years w/o Corey. YOUNG inexperienced staff trying to compete in the toughest conference in the country.

 

On the flip side we must have more talent than LSU, Bama and Ole Miss since we put up more than they did on offense.. lol. I say the football gods giveth crazy wins (USCe) and now they taketh away (Arkansas).

 

Playing slow mentally makes it look that way. New coordinator likely the problem

 

and then they still give up a big play lol

 

I think he is hurt. Either way he isn't a Power 5 QB either.

 

This is by far the most infuriating thing to me about our defense.

I will NEVER understand why you're giving a 10 yard cushion to a receiver on 3rd and 6. Especially when the DBs don't have the speed or instincts to close at the necessary time. We give up big chunks of plays over and over because of the cushion we give. We practically marched Arky down the field ourselves on multiple drives just watching their WRs catch in front of us, not even trying to contend the pass.

It's the same soft a$$ defense we hated under Grantham. It's baffling. Very little seems to have changed.

 

I doubt Max Brown finishes his career here. Having him on scholly is the least of our problems.

 

Yeah he wasn't Power 5 worthy there either. I'll give it to him, he played the system well to get this free education. Congrats to him.

 

It seemed like yesterday rushing the passer was not one of our issues as we actually accounted for 5 sacks which I believe is the most in a game this season. Hell we even got us an interception and a fumble recovery too.

 

Arkansas held Arkansas to 3 points let's be real, as they lost by 3 points to Bama, 3 points to lsu and 7 points to ole miss scoring 21, 31 and 20 respectively. And those are the 3 best teams in their division.
