Not quite accurate...he was fired before losing to Ga by 35 and the team knew it which is in part why they lost by 35.

Untrue...fans vote with their butts. When the stands are only 2/3 full is when the Admin finally notices that perhaps something might be amiss.

Daniels should sit. Now whether that happens or not is a different story.

You and I must have attented the same class. It's seems a lot of other people on this board skipped school.

Well, they DID give up 31 points and 421 yards to Arkansas, but FSU, Ole Miss, Mizzou and Alabama would be liable to score 30+ points on us as well. And at Red Stick?

Great post, Chem, but Florida's recruiting dropped off from #1 to #7 in 2004, with players like:

    Cornelius Ingram
    Javier Estopian
    Derrick Harvey
    Brandon Siler
    Jim Tartt
    Drew Miller
    Kyle Jackson (the much maligned)
    Tony Joiner
    Phil Trautwein

Many of those players earned rings as starters in 2006. Of course, players didn't have a Portal to jump into. But you're right in that Zook never came CLOSE to a losing record, except perhaps in the eyes of Gator fans who expected 11-2 seasons to be their norm...

Much different expectations following Spurrier or Meyer. Now we are on our 4th coach since Meyer, more if you count interim coaches. We have fired Mullen, Muschamp and Mac during the season. Who would even want to come here and coach if you fired Napier in less than 4 years? I heard Gundy wanted to come here. Just beat 8th ranked Oklahoma for his 100th win. Our schedule will not get easier in the future with Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC. Hope Billy can turn the corner with this program. Playing a 3rd straight team with a bye week before playing us is not fair scheduling either. We lost 3 defensive key players for Arkansas game. Did not help our DL and LB play and we gave up 200 plus yards rushing. Arkansas made a 2nd half adjustment to offense to have QB run. We could not stop them with the defense we had on the field. We also seem to keep the runner up and try to strip the ball while they run for another five yards. No one is tackling the legs of the ball carrier.

Here's our 2024 schedule, although days for 8 of the games are not set. It is brutal, as usual.
    2024 Florida Football Schedule | FBSchedules.com

I don't see Napier going anywhere at least until after the 2025 season. The buyout is steep, plus the fact that we've been through 4 other coaches since Meyer left buys Napier more time. He does appear to be an excellent recruiter, although if we end up 5-7 this year, after going 6-7 last year, it will be quite an accomplishment to keep this year's class from falling apart. With all that said, it is very concerning to me that the same mistakes and blunders that have plagued this team last year and this have not been fixed. We have no offensive coordinator, no special team coordinator, 2 offensive line coaches and one of the worst O-lines in the SEC. The play calling is questionable, halftime/in-game adjustments just don't seem to be made, the secondary can't cover, the defense can't tackle and we consistently get beat at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. I want Billy Napier to succeed. He seems like a great guy who is very well organized. I don't like the lack of emotion, even to the point of passivity, on the sidelines. We don't need a crazy man like Muschamp, but how about showing some passion!?
Excuses are for losers and there's no way we should have lost to an Arkansas team who had only beaten Western Carolina & Kent State before yesterday, plus only scored THREE POINTS in their last game against Mississippi State. A team is what it's record says and we simply are not very good and this season is, basically, over. Too bad.

And after all that, if our team could have simply snapped the ball after a first down and spiked it to set up a fluid field goal try like 130 other teams could have, we'd have won the game. Loss is 100% on coaching mistakes... again. Every week some new glaring f up we've never seen before. It's a trend of lack of attention to detail. Not a one off.

Aaaaaand we gave up more points and yards to Ark, so if LSU's D is BAD, then ours is worse...

My point is that Donovan won like 13 games in each of his first two seasons and was nowhere near making the tournament, so calling Golden "some guy whose name I can't remember" makes that poster look like a fool at this stage. A fool or a Johnny-come-lately who didn't follow Gator basketball until the team was good.

We can talk about the young players and needing talent until we are blue in the face. I brought this up after the GA loss - we are YOUNG in the coaching department - UGA had 91 years total power5 experience on their staff to FLs 25 and of that 25 Corey has like 13 years so we really have 12 years between all the other coaches. We do not have a coaching staff that has experience in this league and it shows.

Billy Donovan played in a final 4, was an assistant coach at Kentucky during Pitino years, and turned Marshall program around in his first head coaching stint. Was a better resume than Golden at Auburn and San Fran. We have to decide due we hire a name brand proven coach and spend dollars or do we hire projects and gamble they will be able to grow into role. Is a head basketball coach that has previously made the NCAA tournament unreasonable?

Every week Napier seems to discover something new about the game.

How is this possible when you are the son of a coach?!?!?!

Clearly not ready for the SEC.
